Job description

WGM Group is seeking a mid-level Transportation Design Engineer to join our team in Missoula in the vibrant Northern Rockies. WGM Group is a multi-disciplined civil engineering, planning and design firm. In this role you would be responsible for conceptualizing, planning and creating transportation engineering designs such as urban corridors, highways, roundabouts, signals, lighting design, parking analysis, and non-motorized infrastructure. This role provides design solutions to problems and collaborates with project managers to facilitate the delivery of plans, specifications, and estimates.
Role & Responsibilities:
As an integral member of the Transportation team, you will:

  • Play a key role as responsible charge for technical project design and production for a wide range of transportation projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers to define project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Work with engineers and other staff on QA/QC to ensure that designs meet all required specifications, regulations, and contract conditions.
  • Utilize technical software programs regularly to analyze and produce quality deliverables for clients.
  • Prepare infrastructure cost estimates, technical reports and updates.
  • Stay abreast of advances in engineering design and technique to move forward and support innovation within WGM practices.
  • Mentor and train junior staff, providing technical direction and expertise to the project team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in civil engineering or related field (transportation emphasis preferred)
  • 4+ years of experience in transportation engineering projects
  • Advanced skill in AutoCAD Civil3D
  • Solid transportation design skills and a creative approach to problem-solving
  • Strong technical knowledge of engineering design and principles
  • Familiarity working with the Montana Department of Transportation or other government agencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize projects and daily workload
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate on the execution of projects and deliverables as this role will work closely with project manager
  • Licensed PE preferred
