Job description

A family owned firm and leader in funeral service serving metro Detroit through three locations in Troy and Royal Oak, seeks a full-time funeral service associate who is committed to exceeding expectations while being engaged, dynamic and able to excel in all aspects of funeral service.
Salary commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits available (medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid time off and more).
A Funeral Service Associate handles the following duties:
  • Assisting grieving families while showing continual care and concern
  • Answering phones
  • Greeting and directing visitors
  • Transporting deceased to and from funeral homes as directed
  • Preparing space for and attending to funeral services
  • Receiving and moving flower arrangements
  • Supporting and assisting funeral directors to insure the highest quality, most professional, most ethical service
  • Monitoring parking lot activities; prepared to direct traffic
  • Efficiently planning driving routes and arriving at destinations as scheduled

A successful candidate must:
  • Possess and display an understanding of the funeral profession
  • Have adaptive/team player attitude
  • Have professional self-presentation
  • Have pleasant phone manner
  • Be resourceful and able to multi task
  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Be able to lift and move 50 pounds routinely and up to 15 pounds of force frequently
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have an insurable driving record

This is a full-time position, typically about 45 hours weekly with a schedule consisting of days, some evenings and some weekends. Qualified candidates must have strong communication skills and the tact and ability to perform in dynamic and sometimes stressful conditions. Standing and lifting are required.
