Forensic Interviewer

Salary starting at $51,000/year.  Salary is based onyears of experience. 

This position's primary job function is toperform forensic interviews of children. This position works with multipleagencies to assist in the investigation of severe child abuse cases, mainly inDenton, Wise, and Jack Counties. The person filling this position must have aworking knowledge of investigative and prosecution procedures. The staff membermust demonstrate excellent intrapersonal skills, the ability to communicate bothorally and in writing, and strong organizational skills. The staff member mustdemonstrate professionalism with clients, co-workers, team members and maintaincomposure and be able to make judicious decisions in high-stress situations.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate, schedule, and perform forensic interviews at the request of Child Protective Services, law enforcement, or the DA's office of children ages 2 and older that are suspect of having been either sexually or severely physically abused or have witnessed a violent crime
  • Document services provided to clients and to the multidisciplinary team
  • Participate in case reviews
  • Prepare for and provide court testimony as requested
  • Maintain interview skills, including attending statewide and in-house peer review, observing forensic interviews conducted by other trained forensic interviewers, do self-critiques, and stay up to date on research, relevant issues, and best practice
  • Maintain and manage forensic interview work product
  • Partner with CAC Family Advocates for effective service delivery
  • Participate in the on-call rotation, requiring after hours and holiday availability
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Schedule

Working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5p.m. but work hours may vary and be extended until 9:00 p.m. according tocompany needs.

Travel

This position will be in the Lewisville, TX office. This position may travel to Denton and Lewisville frequently.  Travel tothe Bridgeport office may be required if agency needs arise.

Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, criminal justice, or related field
  • Must be willing to attend initial training, receive ongoing training, and peer review in the field of forensic interviewing

Experience

  • A minimum of 1-year of related experience in working with crime victims, children, or families
  • Experience working with law enforcement, CPS investigations, or District Attorney's office required
  • Experience working with children and families and knowledge of child abuse issues preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, preferred.
