Summary
A law firm is seeking a Debt Recovery Paralegal to support attorneys handling collection matters involving community associations, including condominiums, homeowners' associations (HOAs), and townhome communities. The ideal candidate will have experience with debt collection procedures, court filings, legal document preparation, and client communication in a fast-paced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities

Open and maintain collection case files from intake through closure.

Draft legal documents, including motions, petitions, proposed orders, and correspondence.

File pleadings electronically and manage court deadlines and calendars.

Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing parties regarding case status and payoff requests.

Review account ledgers and calculate payoff amounts.

Process payments and maintain accurate case and financial records.

Conduct legal research and assist attorneys with case strategy.

Prepare discovery requests and responses.

Assist attorneys with trial preparation, hearings, and witness coordination.

Maintain organized electronic and physical case files.

Monitor bankruptcy filings using PACER.

Coordinate service of process and follow-up activities.

Qualifications

High school diploma required; Paralegal Certificate or Degree preferred.

Minimum 3 years of Paralegal or Legal Assistant experience in a law firm.

At least 2 years of debt collection or FDCPA-related experience.

Experience with court e-filing and calendaring.

Strong legal drafting, communication, and organizational skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Experience with legal case management software is a plus.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
