Coordinator of Catechist Formation

The Pastoral Center of the Archdiocese of Miami is seeking a full-time Coordinator of Catechist Formation (CCF) to assist the Archdiocesan Director of Catechesis in assessment of current catechist formation process for parish and Catholic school catechists with attention to multi-cultural diversity. The CCF guides catechists and teachers at Catholic schools in pursuit of their formation leading to certification; implements a catechist formation plan as designated by the Director of Catechesis; and monitors the implementation of Archdiocesan policies and procedures. The Coordinator of Catechist Formation performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Hours: Monday -Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in theology or Bachelor's in a related field with a completion of Archdiocesan Catechetical Certification required.
  • Active participation in parish life; previous experience in Catholic parish environment a plus.
  • Appropriate mental and physical health to accomplish the tasks.
  • Completion of archdiocesan safety policies (Background Check, Virtus, etc).
  • Excellent customer service skills, including ability to maintain focus and professionalism with people in challenging situations, both in person and by phone.
  • Able to help prepare, set up and clean up during some evening or weekend events.
  • Good time management, including ability to manage several projects at the same time.
  • Must be able to multi-task and retain accuracy in an environment of competing deadlines.
  • Able to walk, drive and stand for prolonged hours as required by the sessions.
  • Able to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
  • Good oral and written English-language communication skills.
  • Good Spanish-language spoken communications skills a plus.
  • Proficient computer literacy (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint a plus).
  • Practicing Catholic who fully adheres to and models the Church's teachings in faith and morals (Cf. National Directory for Catechesis, 54 B 5).
  • Must have a professional demeanor.
