Position: French Immersion Classroom Teaching Assistant (K-5)
Status: Full-Time

The French American School of Denver (FASDenver) is a French Immersion, multicultural learning community dedicated to providing an academically rigorous, culturally enriching environment where students are empowered to become critical thinkers, global citizens, and lifelong learners. Our K-5 program emphasizes language immersion, creativity, and high expectations for academic and personal growth.

What You'll Do:
As a French Immersion Teaching Assistant, you will support the lead French classroom teacher in fostering a safe, engaging, and linguistically rich learning environment. You will assist with classroom instruction, student supervision, preparation of materials, and individualized student support, all while modeling French language use.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Support instruction in a French Immersion classroom (K-5) under the direction of the lead teacher.
  • Model and encourage the use of spoken and written French throughout the school day.
  • Assist with small group or one-on-one instruction in both academic and enrichment settings.
  • Help prepare classroom materials and organize learning activities.
  • Supervise students during classroom transitions, lunch, recess, and school events.
  • Foster a warm, respectful, and inclusive classroom climate that supports all learners.
  • Reinforce behavioral expectations and school norms positively and consistently.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to meet individual student needs.
  • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and families (in French or English as appropriate).
  • Participate in staff meetings, school events, and professional development sessions.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.
  • Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting.
  • Authorization to work in the United States. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship at this time.
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred:
  • B.A. or higher in education, child development, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in a bilingual, immersion, or international school setting.
  • Understanding of child development and/or early literacy and numeracy.
