Job description

Fantastic NICU Opportunity – Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in Waterbury, CT

UConn Health/Waterbury Hospital are seeking experienced Pediatric Physician Assistants (PA) or Nurse Practitioners (NP) to join our team in the Special Care Nursery (SCN) and Newborn Nursery. This opportunity is available on a full-time or part-time basis and provides coverage 24/7, 365 days per year. The selected candidate will work alongside a group of experienced providers and neonatology attendings at UConn Health/Waterbury Hospital, supporting the care of newborns in both the SCN and Newborn Nursery.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Attend high-risk deliveries
  • Admit and manage infants in the SCN through daily rounds and procedures
  • Provide coverage for well babies in the Well Baby Nursery, including admissions and daily notes
  • Participate in Pediatric Codes and trauma responses in the Emergency Department

Required Skills / Procedures:

  • Intubation
  • Umbilical artery and vein catheterization
  • IV placement
  • Lumbar punctures
  • Urinary catheterization

This is an excellent opportunity to practice in a high-acuity, collaborative environment while contributing to exceptional neonatal care in a supportive, academic-affiliated setting.
