The Assistant Camp Manager works closely with the Camp Manager, Site Manager and team leads to ensure the safe and productive operation of the Bornite camp. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESSafetyImplement and enforce the Site Safety and Environmental PoliciesEnsure personnel compliance with the Site Safety and Environmental PoliciesAssume the required Incident Management or Emergency Response Team role during emergencies according to the Ambler Crisis and Emergency Management PlanImmediately intervene when safety hazards are observedConduct employee task trainingDevelop Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) with team leads and managers.Identify and mitigate safety hazardsConduct daily toolbox meetings with the Site Operations teamsAssist with safety audits of project operationsAssist with safety related paperwork (near misses and incident reports)Assist with baggage checks of incoming passengers to campManagerialComply with Ambler Metals Corporate StandardsProvide operational support to the Camp Manager and the UKMP management teamEstablish and maintain a culture of accountability, encouraging the reporting of hazards and deficienciesUphold Ambler's respectful workplace culture. Intervene and address observed or reported instances of harassmentRecommend efficiencies, optimizations, and best practices to the Camp ManagerDevelop and implement work plansEnsure all personnel have received a camp orientation, including camp rules and safety procedures.Assist with tracking, approval, and submittal of employee time to payrollMonitor contractor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and report deficiencies to the Camp ManagerEnsure priority loading and unloading of charter aircraftManage daily inventory of fuel at siteWork closely with Site Operations teams (Admin, Catering, Mechanical, Heavy Equipment, Maintenance and House Keeping) to ensure tasks and resources are assigned appropriatelyAssist the Admin team with room assignments and check-outsClericalMaintain inventory control of supplies arriving at site.Ensure sufficient and appropriate materials are being orderedOrder supplies through the Fairbanks-based expediting teamMaintain document control of inventory forms: JHAs, SOPs and HAZMAT shipping formsCommunicationReport all safety, environmental and security incidents to the company immediately. Complete incident reportsParticipate in daily management meetingsProvide a report summarizing the daily tasks, deficiencies, and safety concerns to the Camp Manager by 5pm daily or more often, as necessaryAssist with providing project updates to company stakeholdersQUALIFICATIONSEducation and TrainingHigh School diploma or GEDSpecialized training or education in a field of study related to camp operationsValid Driver's LicenseKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of fuel handling regulations and proceduresKnowledge of and ability to carry out safe remote operational proceduresProficient in the use of personal computers and MS Office SuiteAbility to develop formal reports, documents and JHA'sAbility to deal tactfully with camp staff, contractors, and visitorsAbility to work effectively in a team settingAbility to be flexible and adaptable to changeAbility to take initiative in the case of an emergencyAbility to follow instructions effectively and in a timely mannerAbility to work for long periods in a remote locationAbility to obtain a first aid certificateAbility to obtain OSHA certificationExperienceA minimum of 2 years of experience operating in remote mining or oil & gas campsA minimum of 2 years of experience managing personnelA minimum of 2 years managing helicopter and fixed wing operationsA minimum of 1 year working within a formal safety program at a Lead or above levelWorking ConditionsRequired to remain on-site throughout rotation; food and lodging is providedExpected rotation is 20 days on site, 10 days off site inclusive of travelExpected normal daily work hours are from 6:30am until 8:00pmMay be required to work in arctic conditions during the winter monthsExposure to inclement weather conditions (including snow, rain, wind as well as extremely warm or cold conditions) is commonTravel to site may be via small aircraft or boat. Travel on site and surrounding areas is by four-wheel drive and all-terrain vehicles and occasionally via helicopterThis is a seasonal position with a rotational schedule.
