Job description

Summary/Objective

The Alignment/Suspension Technician is responsible for using manufacturer procedures to inspect, adjust, and repair suspension, steering, and brake systems. The role requires a strong understanding of chassis systems, alignment geometry, and OEM service standards.


Responsibilities
•    Inspect suspension components for wear, damage, or malfunction.
•    Identify issues such as uneven tire wear, abnormal steering, or handling problems.
•    Perform wheel alignments to manufacturer specifications
•    Replace and calibrate suspension parts according to manufacturer specifications.
•    Conduct road tests to confirm repair quality and vehicle handling performance.
•    Maintain accurate service records, including parts used, labor performed, and diagnostic results, in compliance to dealership standards.
•    Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
•    Providing exceptional customer service.
•    Ensure work is completed in a timely and accurate manner. 


Qualifications
•    Strong knowledge of front-end suspension systems, alignment procedures, and chassis diagnostics.
•    Proficiency with hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and alignment machines.

•    Ability to perform precise alignments and adjust suspension components to factory specs.
•    Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in physically demanding conditions.
•    Meticulous approach to inspections and repairs to ensure quality workmanship.
•    High school diploma or equivalent.
•    Valid driver’s license.
•    Excellent customer service skills.
•    Strong verbal communication skills.
•    Knowledge of safety practices and regulations to ensure all work is done in a safe and responsible manner.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 


Work Environment: 
Time is mainly spent outside, in the shop, in the weather and elements. Regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic, or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines. 


Physical Demands: 
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by any employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
•    Regularly requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, use repetitive motion, and bending down.  
•    Consistently lift objects anywhere from 5- 75 pounds. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are set by the needs of the dealership.

Note: Schedules are subject to change.  Two-weeks’ notice of a schedule change will be provided whenever possible.

Travel: Occasional travel for training or to assist at other dealerships may be required.
