What You'll Do
As an Aeronautical Engineer, you'll play a key role in the design and development of advanced missile systems and mechanical components while supporting manufacturing, testing, and product improvement efforts.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design major components and assemblies for advanced missile systems and aerospace applications
- Develop preliminary layouts, concepts, models, sketches, and engineering documentation
- Evaluate critical design considerations including:
- Structural integrity
- Thermal performance
- Manufacturability
- Material selection
- Cost efficiency
- Contractual and technical requirements
- Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings for procurement and manufacturing
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles and GD&T standards to product designs
- Perform first-order structural analysis and engineering calculations to validate designs
- Conduct stress analysis and performance evaluations
- Support testing and validation activities to verify system performance
- Coordinate with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and program teams throughout the product development lifecycle
- Review and verify engineering drawings for accuracy, completeness, clarity, and compliance with standards
- Contribute to the development of innovative solutions that improve performance, reliability, and efficiency
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- Experience supporting aerospace, missile, defense, or complex mechanical system development
- Proficiency with advanced 3D CAD software, preferably Siemens NX
- Demonstrated experience creating detailed engineering drawings for manufacturing and procurement
- Knowledge and application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
- Ability to perform first-order structural analysis and engineering calculations
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with mechanical systems
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Understanding of aerospace metallic materials and related material science principles
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to obtain a security clearance in the future
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced GD&T training or certification in accordance with ASME Y14.5
- Aerospace manufacturing or machine shop experience
- Experience programming or operating CNC mills and lathes
- Active Department of Defense Secret Clearance or higher
- Knowledge of aerospace composite and non-metallic materials
- Experience supporting missile, defense, or advanced aerospace programs
