Job Description

The SAGE facility is seeking a Student Front Desk Assistant to support daily administrative operations at our research facility.

The Student Front Desk Assistant will serve as one of the first points of contact for visitors, students, faculty, staff, and research partners. The student will assist with front desk operations and general office support.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist visitors.

  • Answer phone and assist with general inquiries.

  • Maintain organization of the front desk and reception area.

  • Assist with preparing materials and other administrative documents.

  • Accept and organize mail and package deliveries.

  • Maintain visitor and facility records.

  • Follow facility procedures related to safety, security, and access.

Required Qualifications

  • This grant requires that the person selected for this position be a U.S. citizen.

  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno.

  • This position is open to Work Study awarded candidates only.

  • The job site is not on main campus and would require reliable transportation.

Schedule

Must work a minimum of 10 hours/weekly

Operation hours from 8:30-5:00pm

About the Facility

The SAGE facility is a hub for discovery, collaboration, innovation, and research. Located north of the University of Nevada, Reno campus, our large laboratory spaces bring together multiple disciplines to address real-world challenges and advance scientific knowledge. The SAGE facility at the University of Nevada in Reno is an ~180,000 sq. ft facility dedicated to advancing our scientific understanding of extreme environments, and the technologies we use to reach and diagnose such conditions. We have a two-million volt and one million ampere pulsed power generator with a 100 nanosecond rise time, used to explore plasma phenomena and generate bright sources of radiation as diagnostic tools. We have also just installed multiple hypervelocity launchers, or cannons, used to create steady shock waves and accurately determine the equation of state and strength of materials, improving our understanding of planet formation, impact crater formation, and planetary defense.
