Job Description
McCormick Taylor is seeking an experienced Structural/Bridge Engineer (Structural Engineer III) with a minimum of 6 years of bridge design experience to join our Verona, VA or Glen Allen, VA office location. The primary duties of the Structural Engineer III are to perform structural analysis and prepare design calculations for various transportation structures in accordance with AASHTO LRFD and VDOT specifications and standards. Qualified candidates should have a diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas related to bridge design; geotechnical/foundation design, substructure design, superstructure design, and retaining and noise walls. This position will also provide the opportunity to develop and lead the regional Virginia structural engineering group.
• Performing complex structural planning analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects
• Perform detailed structural calculations in support of design and rehabilitation for bridges, culverts, and retaining walls
• Develop structural drawings, construction details and geometry layouts
• Prepare quantities and engineering cost estimates
• Provide internal quality control to ensure technical accuracy, conformance to project requirements, and overall constructability
• Provide construction assistance and respond to Requests for Information (RFI's) as necessary
• Assist Manager with business development and Virginia region project growth
• Opportunity to develop and lead the regional structural engineering group.

Job Requirements
• Minimum 6 years of structural engineering experience on transportation projects for VDOT and local Virginia agencies
• B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) Licensure required
• Experience in all aspects of bridge design and bridge rehabilitation
• Experience in load rating
• Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software
• Thorough knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and VDOT design and construction standards and specifications
• Bridge inspection experience and NBIS Team Leader qualifications a plus
• Proficient with MicroStation
• OpenRoads and OpenBridge experience beneficial
• Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic design beneficial
• Possess strong oral and written communication skill
• Must be able to independently manage project tasks
