Pilot Driver (Modular Home Transport Escort)

Location: Fairmont, WV (Local)

At Middletown Home Sales Inc., our Pilot Drivers help keep oversized modular and HUD home transports safe on the road. You'll drive in front of and/or behind the house sections as they're moved on trucks, watching traffic, spotting hazards, and helping ensure the transport team avoids conflicts with oncoming vehicles.

Middletown Home Sales Inc. is a locally owned and rapidly growing company with a proud history of serving West Virginia families. From affordable single-section homes to custom-built modular residences, we deliver craftsmanship, innovation, and service that stand the test of time. With core values rooted in integrity, passion, family, and gratitude, our team takes pride in providing a positive workplace culture where people are valued, supported, and given the opportunity to grow.

This is a local role (no long-haul travel required) and is a great fit for someone who is dependable, alert, and calm under pressure.

Responsibilities
  • Escort oversized modular/HUD home transports by driving a pilot vehicle in front of and/or behind the load.
  • Monitor traffic flow and help prevent conflicts with oncoming traffic.
  • Communicate clearly with the transport driver and team throughout the move (radio/phone).
  • Watch for hazards like tight turns, low clearances, parked vehicles, road construction, and unsafe drivers.
  • Assist with route coordination, lane control, and safe stops as needed.
  • Complete basic documentation/checklists when required.
  • Represent Middletown Homes professionally with the public, jobsite teams, and any officials encountered during moves.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record (required).
  • Strong awareness, focus, and safe driving habits in changing conditions.
  • Clear communication skills and good judgment.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality (moves run on schedules).
  • Oversize load escort experience is strongly preferred (but not required).
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions when supporting moves.
What We Offer
  • $16-$20 per hour.
  • Full-time role with local routes (based out of Fairmont, WV).
  • Consistent work and a team-first culture.
  • Opportunities to grow into other field and transport support roles.

Apply now and join a team where safety, teamwork, and pride in the work matter.
