Job description

Micro Technician - Job Description

Prime Beverage Group is looking for a team-oriented and passionate Micro Technician with the ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies. This position will collect and prepare samples for analytical and microbiological testing of ingredients, as well as in-process and finished products. Micro Technician will be required to record and trend results to monitor microbiological growth by ensuring sanitary methods are being followed by microbiological sampling. This position reports directly to the Quality Control Manager.


Position Responsibilities

• Perform microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and utilities (e.g., water, compressed air) using established method.

• Prepare raw materials, in-process, and finished product samples for micro analysis.

• Collecting water samples from sampling port and the pasteurizer tunnel for micro analysis.

• Collecting dry or liquid sugar samples from a bulk tank and delivery trucks to test when ready for analysis.

• Prepare and inventory necessary supplies for testing.

• Monitor equipment conditions and effectiveness.

• Provide timely analysis and results.

• Collecting water samples, dry or liquid sugar samples, and other ingredients to be shipped to customers.

• Planning with production and sanitation for internal micro swabbing.

• Validate and monitor the effective sanitation of the equipment and the facility weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly.

• Preform environmental air plate sampling for monitoring-controlled points in response to customers specifications, government requirements, and Prime Beverage Group quality systems.

• Pulling micro samples aseptically to maintain Control Points (CP).

• Knowledge of different type micros.

• Other tasks as assigned.


Position Requirements

• Proficient with basic computer software (Word, Excel, typing)

• Demonstrated ability to pay attention to details.

• Basic Good Laboratory Practice to prevent cross contamination contribution factors.

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Standing for long hours at a time

• Lifting 25lbs or more.


Education/ Experience

• At least 3 years of Microbiology Lab experience

• 1 year in Food/Beverage preferred


Education/ Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, biology, biochemistry or any other biology-related field

• At least 1 year of Microbiology Lab experience.

• At least 1 year in Food/Beverage preferred.

• HACCP Certification a plus.
