Description:

Job Summary:

The Burn Booth Operator performs a variety of tasks in the foundryโ€™s casting cleaning, burning, and reclaim areas. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work independently to ensure quality and efficiency in foundry operations. Responsibilities are carried out in accordance with verbal and written instructions to ensure quality and safety.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Follow verbal and written instructions to complete daily tasks.

- Perform shakeout and blasting of castings as required.

- Remove mechanical test block specimens from risers using an abrasive saw.

- Inscribe heat numbers on castings and test materials using metallic stamps and hammers.

- Clean castings using pneumatic chipping hammers.

- Remove gates and riser contacts from castings using thermal processes, such as powder burn torches or carbon arc methods.

- Organize and maintain cut-off gates and risers by alloy group during cleaning operations and in the revert yard.

- Assist in the pour department operations when needed.

- Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, jib cranes, and hand/floor trucks.

- Verify documents to ensure they correspond with parts, and accurately record information as instructed.

- Use various hand tools to complete assigned tasks.

- Maintain a clean and safe work area.

- Communicate effectively with team members both verbally and in writing.

- Wear protective clothing and equipment, including respirators, as required.

- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures at all times.

Requirements:

Job Qualifications:

Education: - High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

- Ability to read and write in English.

- Vocational training in welding is preferred.

Experience:

- Prior foundry or industrial environment experience is desirable.

Skills:

- Proficiency in using applicable tools.

- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

- Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Experience operating industrial equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, jib cranes, and hand tools.
