Quick Summary: This person is responsible to ensure all aspects of freight payment, inbound/outbound quoting, and customs compliance are completed when needed, to support evolving supplier/customer needs and KEJ financial success.
  • Evaluate and drive for continuous process improvements
  • Coordinate the creation and distribution of freight reporting metrics
  • Manage third party freight billings to ensure timely and accurate payments are made
  • Manage carriers which includes negotiation of rates
  • Manage and control Premium Freight Authorization (PFA) instances
  • Tracking of expedited freight inbound/outbound
  • Coordinate Import / Exports
  • Support the Safety team with the Customs Trade Partnership against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program.
  • Complete USMCA certification requests and other similar certification requests
  • Maintain harmonized codes & country of origin in SAP
  • Supports Shipping, Buyers and Planners in determining best freight methods

Basic Background Requirements: This position will require:
  • Strong computer skills, especially MS Excel
  • Knowledgeable of SAP M/M (Materials Management), P/P (Production Planning), and IM (Inventory Management)
  • General understanding of manufacturing's business processes

Key Performance Objectives
Short Term: (0 to 3 months)
  • Learn 3rd party freight payment system and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Evaluate and drive for continuous process improvements within the area of logistics

Midterm: (3 to 12 months)
  • Develop a carrier scorecard
  • Work with the Planning and Purchasing teams to identify and implement opportunities for improvement

Other (ad hoc priorities)
  • Support the Safety team with the Customs Trade Partnership against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program.
  • Complete USMCA certification requests and other similar certification requests
  • Maintain harmonized codes & country of origin in SAP
  • Stay abreast of the latest logistics trends and initiatives for our business and our customer's business
