Freight forwarding professionals often navigate challenges such as coordinating shipments across multiple countries, managing tight deadlines, and resolving unexpected delays due to customs or weather. Many freight forwarders rely on technology and established logistics networks to proactively manage disruptions and ensure goods reach their destinations efficiently.

To thrive as a Freight Forwarder, you need a solid understanding of logistics, international shipping regulations, and supply chain management, often supported by relevant certifications or experience in transportation or logistics. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help manage complex shipments and coordinate with clients and partners. These competencies are crucial for ensuring timely, compliant, and cost-effective movement of goods across borders.

What is freight forwarding?

Freight forwarding is a service used by businesses and individuals to arrange the shipment of goods from one location to another, often internationally. Freight forwarders act as intermediaries between shippers and transportation services, handling logistics such as booking cargo space, preparing shipping and customs documents, and negotiating freight charges. They coordinate the movement of goods by various modes of transport, including air, sea, road, or rail, and often provide additional services like warehousing, insurance, and tracking. Their goal is to ensure goods are shipped efficiently, securely, and cost-effectively.

Job description

The Opportunity
We are hiring a Vice President of Sales / Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to help lead the next chapter of growth at Ardent.
This is not a "manage from the sidelines" role.
We are looking for a driven, motivated, commercially minded builder with 8+ years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, supply chain, or international transportation.
Someone who understands this business.
Someone who knows how to sell.
Someone who gets excited about building teams, winning customers, mentoring people, and creating something meaningful.
This role is for a person who wants to make a real impact, not just collect a paycheck.
If you are entrepreneurial, competitive, relationship-driven, and energized by growth, this may be the opportunity you have been waiting for.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Driving Revenue Growth
  • Lead Ardent's commercial growth strategy across ocean, air, customs brokerage, drayage, transload, and trade advisory services
  • Develop and execute sales strategies that drive profitable revenue growth
  • Personally help win and expand strategic accounts
  • Build relationships with importers, exporters, procurement leaders, and supply chain executives
  • Identify new markets, industries, and growth opportunities
Building a World-Class Commercial Team
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing sales talent
  • Create accountability, structure, and performance expectations
  • Improve pipeline management, forecasting, and sales discipline
  • Build a culture of ownership, responsiveness, and customer obsession
Partnering Across the Business
  • Work closely with operations and leadership to ensure seamless customer execution
  • Help bridge the gap between sales promises and operational excellence
  • Identify customer pain points and turn them into solutions
  • Be a leader inside the organization, not just externally
Helping Shape the Future of Ardent
  • Serve as a key voice in company strategy and growth planning
  • Help evolve our go-to-market strategy
  • Contribute to leadership discussions around hiring, service expansion, and long-term growth
  • Play a meaningful role in building something that lasts
What We're Looking For
You likely have:
  • 8+ years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, transportation, supply chain, or a related industry
  • A proven track record of business development and revenue growth
  • Experience selling international logistics services (ocean, air, customs, drayage, etc.)
  • Strong leadership instincts and the ability to influence people
  • High emotional intelligence and excellent communication skills
  • A builder mentality and willingness to roll up your sleeves
  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • The ability to move fast, solve problems, and adapt

Bonus points if you have:
  • Experience leading or scaling sales teams
  • Existing industry relationships
  • Experience working in entrepreneurial or high-growth environments
Who Will Thrive Here
You will probably love this role if:
  • You move fast and hate bureaucracy
  • You genuinely care about customers
  • You enjoy coaching and developing people
  • You are energized by growth and competition
  • You want to help build something meaningful
  • You believe details matter
  • You believe communication matters even more

At Ardent, every day is the Super Bowl.
What we do matters.
Our customers rely on us to help keep their businesses moving, and we take that responsibility seriously.
We believe in caring deeply, moving quickly, communicating constantly, and showing up for one another as One Team.
Compensation & Benefits
We offer a highly competitive compensation structure including:
  • Base salary
  • Aggressive performance incentives
  • Meaningful upside tied to company growth
  • Health benefits
  • PTO
  • Long-term leadership opportunity
A Note from the Founder
I'll be honest with you.
This role is not for everyone.
We are looking for someone hungry. Someone humble enough to learn, but confident enough to lead. Someone who wants to build, solve problems, and help shape the future of a growing company.
If you are looking for a place where your voice matters, where your effort makes a difference, and where you can help build something special, I'd love to talk.
