Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Investment Specialist - Freelance AI Trainer Project based in Netherlands.

This freelance opportunity is designed for investment professionals and knowledgeable finance specialists who want to help shape the next generation of AI. You'll apply your understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, and analytical frameworks to evaluate and improve advanced language models. The role involves testing AI systems against realistic investment scenarios, assessing the quality of their financial reasoning, and identifying areas where models fail or oversimplify complex concepts. You'll contribute structured feedback that can improve analytical accuracy, market understanding, and decision support. It's a flexible, intellectually engaging opportunity to turn your investment expertise into high-quality training data for AI systems used by financial professionals worldwide.

Accountabilities
  • Evaluate advanced AI models using investment scenarios, financial questions, analytical exercises, and market-based reasoning tasks.
  • Assess model responses for factual accuracy, financial logic, analytical rigor, and real-world applicability.
  • Test AI capabilities across areas such as equity and fixed-income markets, portfolio management, asset allocation, derivatives, valuation, financial modeling, and risk management.
  • Challenge models on topics including fundamental and technical analysis, portfolio construction, diversification, market cycles, performance evaluation, and investment research.
  • Identify and document recurring model errors, failure modes, inconsistencies, and misunderstandings of financial concepts or market behavior.
  • Capture reproducible error traces and provide structured feedback to improve prompts, evaluation frameworks, and model reasoning.
  • Review how AI systems interpret financial data and determine whether their conclusions appropriately reflect investment principles and market dynamics.
  • Help identify areas where models oversimplify investment decisions, misinterpret financial information, or fail to account for relevant market and macroeconomic factors.
  • Clearly articulate analytical reasoning and decision-making processes to help improve the quality and depth of AI-generated financial insights.
Requirements
  • Foundational or professional knowledge of investments, financial markets, portfolio management, or related areas.
  • Familiarity with areas such as equity and fixed-income markets, asset allocation, derivatives, valuation methods, financial modeling, risk management, behavioral finance, and macroeconomic influences on markets.
  • A background in finance, economics, accounting, business, or a related discipline is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in asset management, brokerage, investment research, financial planning, or related financial roles is valuable.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate complex financial reasoning and identify inaccuracies or logical gaps.
  • Ability to assess investment scenarios and determine whether proposed strategies or conclusions are financially sound.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to distinguish subtle errors in financial analysis, assumptions, calculations, and reasoning.
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to clearly explain complex investment concepts.
  • Strong metacognitive communication skills, including the ability to explicitly articulate reasoning and decision-making processes.
  • Entry-level candidates with strong foundational investment knowledge and analytical capabilities are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to work independently and consistently complete structured evaluation and feedback tasks.
Benefits
  • Freelance/contract opportunity with a fully remote working environment.
  • Flexible opportunity to apply your investment expertise to cutting-edge AI development.
  • Pay range of $6-$65 per hour, with the exact rate determined by experience, expertise, and geographic location.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the development of AI systems supporting investors, analysts, and financial professionals.
  • Exposure to advanced AI evaluation, reasoning, and training workflows.
  • Opportunity to work on intellectually challenging investment and financial reasoning tasks.
  • No traditional employment benefits such as health insurance or paid time off are provided, as this is a contractor position.
  • Contractors are responsible for providing a secure computer and reliable high-speed internet connection.
