Job description

Our client with offices across the US and a few employees in Canada is seeking an experienced Benefits Administrator to serve as the primary benefits resource for approximately 300 employees.
This is a highly visible role supporting all aspects of benefits administration, leave management, vendor partnerships, employee communications, and ongoing integration initiatives following a recent corporate transition. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently while partnering closely with HR, Payroll, employees, and external vendors.
  • Location: New York, NY (Hybrid, 3 days onsite)
  • Duration: 3-6+ Month Contract
  • Pay: $35-40/hr

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions and escalations
  • Administer health and welfare plans including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, FSA, commuter benefits, and retirement programs
  • Manage employee enrollments, qualifying life events, eligibility changes, and terminations
  • Conduct benefits onboarding sessions for new hires
  • Administer leave programs including FMLA, disability, parental leave, state leave programs, and personal leaves in partnership with third-party vendors
  • Guide employees through leave and return-to-work processes
  • Partner with carriers, brokers, and vendors to resolve benefits issues and claims escalations
  • Review and reconcile benefit invoices and assist with reporting and audits
  • Partner closely with Payroll regarding benefit deductions, 401(k) administration, and leave-related payroll impacts
  • Maintain benefits data and reporting within Workday
  • Support ongoing process improvements, and documentation efforts

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of benefits administration experience
  • Strong knowledge of US health and welfare plans, some experience/exposure to Canadian benefits
  • Experience managing leaves of absence and partnering with third-party leave administrators
  • Strong vendor management and employee-facing customer service skills
  • Workday experience strongly preferred
  • Strong Excel and reporting capabilities
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience supporting multi-state employee populations is highly desirable and will be shown preference
