Senior Payroll Analyst

The Senior Payroll Analyst is responsible for input, oversight, and management of all payroll related matters across ABC News, primarily supporting the Freelance population reporting into Production Operations. Provides guidance and assistance for CATS issues. Responsible for oversight, implementation and compliance of all Federal, State, Local and Union pay laws/regulations.

The Senior Payroll Analyst is the go-to expert for all payroll-related functions and ensures timely accurate processing, compliance with labor regulations, and support for internal and external audits. This role works closely with HR Business Partners, Finance, Labor Relations and department leaders across the business to support a wide range of payroll and HR needs. Plays a key role in onboarding new Freelance hires, both union and nonunion. Coordinates with Enterprise Partners on pay impact changes at business level to PSA's, CBA's, and Local laws. Audits changes to employee records to ensure accuracy.

Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with Production Operations managers, leads and oversees the hiring process for all freelance and daily hire positions including onboarding/offboarding process as well as reviewing any critical benefits/HR related information.
  • Assist in advising and providing guidance to all employees in the administration of payroll and HR related policies, procedures and best practices, and collective bargaining agreements (CBA). This role resolves employee concerns when contacted with questions or concerns regarding pay discrepancies.
  • Responsible for payroll process oversight and act as a liaison between enterprise teams and the business.
  • Provide ad-hoc reports and analytics to HR leadership and finance teams as needed. Ensures cost center allocation accuracy in partnership with Finance including reconciliation of reports.
  • Manage freelance compliance reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Consolidate reporting insights and recommendations as a dashboard for quarterly business leader review.
  • Responsible for tracking and partnering with HR and the business on overpayment and tax claims.
  • Assists with payroll system updates and testing to support reporting accuracy and policy changes. Proactively documents, maintains, and organizes department practices and protocols related to HR policy administration and standards.
  • Subject matter expert on TWDC Workforce classification and responsible for providing educational resources on an ongoing basis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Expertise processing payroll for union and nonunion workforce.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; and the Internet
  • Proficient in HR and payroll systems, policies, and processes, including SAP (Display HR Master Data, Org hierarchy overview, and Display position), Workday, CATS, hiring approval process, performance management process, and talent and succession planning processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate at all levels within the organization.
  • Proven ability to work with confidential information - while exercising sound judgment and decision-making.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly ambiguous environment - while being flexible, adaptable, and demonstrating an ability to problem-solve.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects while balancing priorities.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an HR or customer/client service oriented professional role.
  • Previous experience in broadcast, media or entertainment industries.
  • Experience in unionized work environments, with a strong understanding of CBA implications on payroll.
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas) for detailed data reporting.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $109,800 to $134,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
