Third Party Risk Analyst
About the role
As a Third-Party Risk Analyst on Vanguard's Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) Assessment Management team, you'll play an important role in helping Vanguard protect the long-term interests of our clients. You'll support how we evaluate and monitor risks associated with third-party vendors and external partners, using Vanguard's operational and strategic risk frameworks. Your work helps strengthen decision-making, promote responsible partnerships, and reinforce our culture of integrity, collaboration, and long-term thinking.
This role is well suited for someone who enjoys partnering across teams, translating risk concepts into practical guidance, and contributing to a strong risk management environment in a purpose-driven organization.
What you'll do
Support the development, ongoing maintenance, and application of Vanguard's third-party operational risk methodology, including continuous review, benchmarking, and sharing of best practices.
  • Draft and maintain third-party risk management policies, standards, and procedures.

  • Contribute to regular reviews of third-party risk technologies and recommend enhancements to improve effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for internal business partners on third-party risk matters, helping teams implement and sustain best practices.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders on third-party risk initiatives and support oversight activities to promote adherence to established policies and frameworks.

  • Develop clear training materials and facilitate training sessions to build awareness and capability across the organization.

  • Conduct initial reviews of third-party risk assessments, identifying potential issues and escalating items to appropriate stakeholders when needed.

  • Support the development of third-party risk metrics and reporting and communicate results to internal audiences in a clear and actionable way.

  • Ensure required documentation is complete, accurate, and retained in accordance with policy.

  • Collaborate with senior risk analysts and cross-functional partners to stay current on risk management frameworks, emerging risks, and events.

  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

What we're looking for
  • At least five years of related professional experience; experience in risk management is preferred.

  • An undergraduate degree, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.

  • Professional certifications such as CTPRP, CPA, CIA, CISI, or an MBA are preferred, but not required.

  • Ability to communicate risk concepts clearly and effectively with diverse internal audiences.

  • A collaborative, detail-oriented approach with a focus on continuous improvement and sound judgment.

Organizational Alignment
  • This role is part of Vanguard's Third-Party Risk Management function, within the Assessment Management.
