The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Risk & Safety Freelancer to serve as a third-party consultant, supporting clients with safety, compliance, and risk management needs on an as-needed basis.
This is not a full-time or internal role, but a flexible, hybrid engagement designed to provide expert guidance when clients require specialized safety support.
This role is critical to helping organizations maintain compliance with safety regulations, identify operational risks, and strengthen workplace safety practices across their operations.
The Risk & Safety Freelancer will work independently while collaborating with leadership and client teams to deliver practical, actionable recommendations.

The Role
The Risk & Safety Freelancer will provide on-demand consulting services, evaluating safety programs, identifying risks, and advising clients on best practices to improve safety and reduce liability.
Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Conduct risk assessments across facilities, operations, and work processes.
  • Identify safety hazards and develop mitigation strategies.

Safety Program Development:

  • Support emergency preparedness and incident response planning.
  • Recommend best practices to strengthen workplace safety culture.

Incident Investigation & Reporting:

  • Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
  • Identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for leadership.
  • Track safety metrics and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.

Operational Support:

  • Collaborate with internal teams and leadership across various functions.
  • Provide guidance on safety-related decisions and risk exposure.
  • Support contractor and vendor safety compliance where applicable.
  • Assist with workers' compensation and return-to-work processes as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in occupational safety, risk management, EHS.
  • Experience across multiple industries such as manufacturing, construction, corporate environments, or industrial settings is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and provide practical, business-focused recommendations.
  • Professional certifications such as OSHA 30, CHST, CSP, ASP, or equivalent are highly preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required to support our diverse client base.
