Freelance accounting assistants are independent professionals who provide accounting and bookkeeping support to businesses or individuals on a contract or project basis. Their tasks typically include managing invoices, processing payments, reconciling accounts, and maintaining financial records. Unlike full-time employees, freelance accounting assistants work with multiple clients and offer flexible services tailored to each client’s needs. They often work remotely and may specialize in certain accounting software or industries. This role is ideal for those seeking flexibility and variety in their accounting career.

How do freelance accounting assistants typically manage communication and collaboration with multiple clients remotely?

Freelance Accounting Assistants often juggle several clients, each with unique needs and preferred communication styles. To stay organized and responsive, they commonly use cloud-based accounting software, secure file-sharing platforms, and scheduling tools to facilitate seamless collaboration. Regular check-ins—via email, video calls, or project management apps—help clarify expectations, track progress, and promptly address client questions. Being proactive and transparent about availability and deadlines is key to building trust and maintaining strong client relationships.

To thrive as a Freelance Accounting Assistant, you need a solid grasp of bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, and basic accounting principles, often supported by a relevant degree or coursework. SUMMARY

At Crescent Event Productions, unforgettable experiences are brought to life through exceptional technical execution and trusted professionals behind the scenes. The Hotel Director of Audio Visual is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of Crescent Event Productions' in-house audiovisual operation at the assigned hotel property. The role serves as Crescent's primary relationship leader with the Hotel and maintains overall accountability for the hotel partnership, client service, sales, event execution, team performance, and financial results of the operation.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys working directly with clients and venues, and takes pride in delivering flawless event experiences. The Director and Assistant Director operate collaboratively and share responsibility for client service, sales, event planning, operational execution, team performance, and the day-to-day success of the property. The Assistant Director should be empowered to make decisions and take ownership within the responsibilities of the position rather than functioning solely as support to the Director.

The Director maintains ultimate accountability for the hotel relationship, property financial performance, team leadership, service standards, and overall operation. Responsibilities should be appropriately delegated while maintaining clear communication, accountability, and continuity of leadership across the property team.

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven leadership and people-management experience in audiovisual, hospitality, or live event production.

• Strong business acumen, including experience managing budgets, labor, and property-level financial performance.

• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain hotel, client, and vendor partnerships.

• Working knowledge of audiovisual equipment, systems, and event production workflows.

• Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities, teams, and stakeholders in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment.

• Valid state driver's license and acceptable driving record.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as Crescent's primary relationship leader with the Hotel and maintain strong partnerships with hotel leadership, Sales, Catering, Convention Services, Banquets, Engineering, and other departments.

• Maintain overall accountability for service provided to the Hotel, its clients, meeting planners, and event partners.

• Attend BEO meetings, pre-convention meetings, site visits, planning meetings, and other hotel or client meetings as needed.

• Lead and participate in the property sales process, including client consultation, audiovisual planning, quote and proposal development, follow-up, and identification of additional production opportunities.

• Ensure event orders, pricing, documentation, and billing information are accurate and maintained in accordance with established Crescent procedures.

• Collaborate with property team and leadership to review upcoming business and ensure events are properly planned, communicated, staffed, and equipped.

• Coordinate with Crescent Operations, Production, Labor, Accounting, and other internal resources as needed to support property business and financial requirements.

• Maintain accountability for the successful execution of events from initial planning through completion and closeout.

• Provide onsite technical support and work in a technician or technical director capacity when needed to support event execution, staffing needs, and property P&L objectives.

• Oversee the scheduling, training, development, coaching, and performance management of property employees and freelance personnel.

• Maintain accountability for property financial performance, including revenue growth, labor management, equipment utilization, operational expenses, billing accuracy, and overall profitability.

• Make responsible staffing, labor, equipment, and operational decisions that balance service expectations with property P&L objectives.

• Maintain oversight of property equipment, inventory, storage, transfers, repairs, and related operational processes.

• Respond promptly to hotel, client, employee, and operational concerns and maintain ownership through appropriate resolution.

• Proactively communicate significant hotel concerns, client issues, staffing challenges, financial considerations, operational risks, and equipment needs to Crescent leadership.

• Represent Crescent's culture and lead by example through consistent adherence to established SOPs, strong communication, teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and follow-through.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities for property employees and freelance personnel in accordance with Crescent policies and applicable law, including interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, assigning work, coaching, evaluating performance, and resolving performance or conduct issues.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

This role requires strategic thinking, effective communication, financial accountability, and a commitment to service, quality, and team development.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to analyze financial and operational reporting, calculate revenue, labor, and margin figures, and apply percentages, measurements, and basic financial modeling as related to property performance and event production.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to exercise sound business judgment, interpret hotel and client needs, and resolve complex, multi-variable operational, staffing, and financial issues in a live-event environment.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficiency with Internet-based systems, audiovisual inventory and event management software (e.g., IntelliEvent), scheduling and workforce management tools, spreadsheets, and word processing software.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The role may involve exposure to varying noise levels, outdoor conditions, temperature extremes, hotel and warehouse settings, and live event environments, along with regular presence at guest- and client-facing functions.
