Fraud Account Manager information

What is a fraud account manager?

Fraud Account Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing fraud prevention and detection strategies within an organization, particularly regarding client accounts and financial transactions. They analyze suspicious activities, develop policies to minimize risk, and work with teams to investigate potential fraud cases. Their role often involves liaising with law enforcement, maintaining compliance with regulations, and ensuring that the company’s assets and reputation are protected from fraudulent activity.

How does a fraud account manager typically collaborate with other departments to prevent and resolve fraudulent activities?

A Fraud Account Manager works closely with teams such as compliance, customer service, IT, and legal to identify, investigate, and mitigate fraudulent activities. They regularly share insights and data with these departments to strengthen internal controls and improve detection methods. Effective collaboration ensures that fraud prevention strategies are comprehensive and that responses to incidents are swift and coordinated, minimizing losses and protecting the organization’s reputation. Building strong interdepartmental relationships is essential for success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fraud account manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fraud Account Manager, you need expertise in fraud detection, risk analysis, and account management, typically supported by a degree in finance, business, or a related field. Proficiency with fraud management systems, data analytics tools, and knowledge of relevant regulations such as AML (Anti-Money Laundering) is essential. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you investigate suspicious activity and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders. These capabilities are crucial for minimizing financial losses, protecting client assets, and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Can I be a fraud account manager with no experience?

Fraud account manager roles typically require some experience in fraud detection, risk management, or related fields, but entry-level positions may be available for candidates with strong analytical skills and relevant certifications. Employers often look for familiarity with fraud prevention tools and good attention to detail, so gaining related training or certifications can improve chances of entry without prior experience.

How to start a career in fraud investigation?

To start a career as a fraud account manager, gaining relevant experience in finance, accounting, or law enforcement is essential. Developing skills in data analysis, investigation techniques, and familiarity with fraud detection tools can improve job prospects. Certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) can also enhance credibility in the field.

Job description

Strike is where people around the world send, save, and spend money on bitcoin rails. For a product like that, customer trust is a feature in and of itself. As Trust Product Manager, you'll own the features that make customers confident keeping their money with Strike: account security controls, verified support experiences, beneficiary planning, account management, and the systems like KYC/B, transaction limits, account restrictions that keep fraudsters out without getting in the way of good customers.

You'll ship customer-facing features, and you'll own the foundations underneath them, turning what most companies treat as friction into experiences customers actually appreciate. You'll succeed by shipping trust-building features customers love, minimizing fraud, maintaining compliance, and protecting the health and integrity of the Strike ecosystem.

This position is available for candidates located in the eastern US time zone.

What You'll Do:
  • Serve as the voice of the customer (internal customer too!) and intimately understand the products we offer as well as their potential fraud vectors and blind spots
  • Work closely with Compliance, Finance, Operations, and Data to uncover and understand needs
  • Partner with cross-functional peers to define, prioritize, and deliver a roadmap and product that maximize impact to financial risk management and our fraud strategy
  • Own our Fraud KPIs and partner with Data and Finance to iterate on their definition as needed
  • Establish and track success metrics for various features and initiatives, including operational efficiencies
  • Support and motivate cross-functional teams through an inclusive and collaborative mindset
Qualifications:
  • At least 4 years of experience in product management, with at least 2 of those years in trust/fraud related teams
  • A highly experimental mindset to drive innovation amidst uncertainty or ambiguity (e.g., new processes, teams, systems)
  • Vast experience working with designers and user researchers
  • Empathy to work with a diverse array of cross functional peers and stakeholders
  • Resourcefulness, pragmatism and roll-up the sleeves mentality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience and interest for Bitcoin and Fintech is a plus
US-Based Positions
  • Salary range: $162K - 190K
  • Equity in a high-growth startup
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance premium contributions; short & long-term disability insurance and basic life insurance
  • Cell phone and internet reimbursement
  • Flexible PTO, sick leave & parental leave
  • Access to a company 401k plan
