Fractional Partner Manager information

What is a fractional partner manager?

A Fractional Partner Manager is a professional who manages business partnerships or alliances for a company on a part-time or contract basis, rather than as a full-time employee. This role is typically hired by organizations that need expert partnership management but may not have the workload or budget for a permanent position. Fractional Partner Managers help identify, negotiate, and nurture relationships with strategic partners, driving business growth and collaboration. Their flexible arrangement allows companies to benefit from their expertise without long-term commitments.

How does a fractional partner manager typically collaborate with client teams and external partners?

A Fractional Partner Manager often works closely with both internal client teams—such as sales, marketing, and product departments—and external partners to drive strategic initiatives and business growth. They usually serve as a bridge, facilitating communication, aligning partnership objectives, and ensuring deliverables are met on both sides. This role requires strong relationship-building skills, adaptability to various industries, and the ability to quickly understand different business models. Regular check-ins, status updates, and collaborative problem-solving are common parts of the weekly routine.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fractional partner manager, and why are they important?

A Fractional Partner Manager needs expertise in partnership management, business development, and a strong understanding of the company's industry, often backed by experience in sales or channel management. Familiarity with CRM platforms, partner relationship management (PRM) tools, and contract negotiation software is commonly required. Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and strategic thinking skills help them foster trust and drive mutual growth with diverse partners. These abilities ensure effective collaboration, successful partnership outcomes, and scalable business expansion.

A day in the life:

The Partner Manager owns and grows Power Digital's relationships with executives, SMB consulting firms, and agencies across the East Coast, activating our referral partner playbook to consistently source new pipeline and revenue.

In this role, you will onboard and activate partners in your book, build the kind of trust that makes Power Digital a partner's first call, and turn that trust into partner-sourced and partner-influenced revenue. • Run Power Digital's referral partner playbook with each partner - equipping them with the positioning, messaging, and competitive differentiation to confidently refer business - and proactively monitor partner sentiment and engagement to protect the relationship and referral flow.

Pipeline & Revenue

  • Support partners in pipeline generation and deal execution, owning partner-sourced and partner-influenced revenue targets.
  • Work closely with sales to keep rules of engagement clean and ensure a smooth handoff on partner-sourced and influenced opportunities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Co-Marketing

  • Partner with partner marketing on thought leadership and field events that enable partners.
  • Collaborate with client service to understand the sentiment and performance of referred clients, and close the loop with partners on outcomes.
  • Serve as the voice of the partner internally, surfacing feedback and market intelligence to product, sales, and marketing.

Role Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, sales, or partnerships at an agency or tech company.
  • Experience managing a pipeline or shared pipeline in partnership with a sales team.
  • Experience working with professional services firms, consulting firms, agencies, and/or fractional CMOs/executives.
  • Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to run multiple partner engagements in parallel, across different stages, without dropping balls.
  • Experience with slack, claude, salesforce (preferred)
