Job Summary:

The primary purpose of the AI Server / Rack R&D BIOS Engineer (focused on L10/L11 system-level execution) is to own the low-level firmware initialization, hardware-to-software bring-up, and boot-stage stability of integrated AI rack platforms on the factory floor. This role directly contributes by configuring, modifying, and calibrating the system BIOS/UEFI firmware to ensure that hundreds of high-power processors (GPUs/ASICs), advanced memory modules, PCIe switches, and Baseboard Management Controllers (BMCs) register correctly, communicate without errors, and boot reliably into the operating system.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform BIOS/firmware bring-up on new server platforms and troubleshoot POST, boot, initialization, and hardware compatibility issues. Analyze debug logs and system behavior to identify root causes and collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to resolve platform-level issues.
  • Configure, validate, and optimize PCIe Gen 6/7 interfaces and high-speed fabric connectivity to ensure reliable link training, device enumeration, signal stability, and system performance. Troubleshoot link failures and compatibility issues across CPUs, GPUs, accelerators, and other PCIe devices.
  • Customize BIOS configurations and platform profiles to meet hyperscale customer requirements, including system settings, security policies, and hardware configurations. Implement and validate Secure Boot provisioning and related firmware security features to ensure platform security and compliance.
  • Validate BIOS integration and communication with BMC/IPMI and other hardware management interfaces to ensure proper system initialization, monitoring, configuration, and management functionality. Troubleshoot firmware interaction issues in collaboration with BMC, hardware, and validation teams.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and procedures for BIOS hotfixes, firmware updates, and patch deployment while implementing and validating Engineering Change Orders (ECOs). Ensure firmware changes are properly tested, documented, traceable, and incorporated into approved platform releases.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science (with a heavily documented focus on low-level systems programming or computer architecture), or Electrical Engineering (paired with strong embedded software skills)

Experience:

  • 1+ years of BIOS/UEFI Firmware Development & Debugging
  • 1+ years of High-Speed Silicon & Fabric Link Training Troubleshooting
  • 1+ years of Server Hardware Bring-Up & POST Level Diagnostics
  • Hardware Management Interfacing (BMC/Redfish/IPMI)
  • Platform Security & Hardware Root-of-Trust (RoT) Provisioning
