What is a founder?

Founders are individuals who start a new business, organization, or venture. They are responsible for developing the initial idea, assembling a team, and securing resources to launch the company. Founders often take on multiple roles in the early stages, such as product development, marketing, and fundraising. Their vision and leadership are critical to shaping the direction and culture of the organization. Over time, founders may continue to lead the company or transition into different roles as the business grows.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a founder, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Founder, you need strong business acumen, strategic vision, and a deep understanding of your target market, often supported by experience in entrepreneurship or relevant industry expertise. Familiarity with financial management tools, project management platforms, and digital marketing systems is typically necessary. Exceptional leadership, resilience, and the ability to communicate and inspire teams are vital soft skills for success in this role. These skills and qualities enable Founders to effectively launch, grow, and sustain a business in competitive environments.

What are some common challenges founders face in the early stages of building a company?

Founders often encounter challenges such as securing initial funding, building a reliable team, and finding product-market fit. Balancing multiple responsibilities—from business development to product management—can be overwhelming, especially with limited resources. Additionally, founders must quickly adapt to feedback and pivot strategies as needed, all while maintaining a clear vision and motivating their team. Building strong networks and seeking mentorship can help navigate these hurdles and increase the chances of early success.

What is the difference between Founder vs Entrepreneur?

An entrepreneur may start multiple businesses or pursue opportunities across industries, focusing on growth and innovation. The roles overlap but differ mainly in scope and focus.

Co-Founder & CEO - AI Native Recruiting Firm

FutureSight

Austin, TX

Full-time

Re-posted 12 days ago

Job description

The Opportunity

FutureSight is seeking a Co-Founder & CEO to lead Foundry, an AI-Native Recruiting Agency currently in build at FutureSight. This is a co-founder partnership with meaningful founder equity, not a salaried executive role.

Recruiting has run on the same model for decades: firms charge a fixed percentage of a hire's first-year salary for work that is largely manual, sourcing, screening, and outreach done one candidate at a time. That pricing made sense when the work required a person doing it by hand. It doesn't anymore.

Market Context

Foundry is an AI-native recruiting firm built around a simple idea: use AI agents to handle sourcing, screening, and candidate evaluation, and keep a small human team focused on what still requires a person: building trust with clients and candidates, exercising judgment on close calls, and closing the placement. That shift in who does the work lets us offer clients a fee that's a fraction of what traditional firms charge, without cutting corners on quality.

This is where we believe recruiting is headed. AI-native service firms are starting to emerge and prove the model works, and we're building toward that shift deliberately.

About FutureSight

FutureSight is a leading venture builder that co-creates world-class software companies with values-driven entrepreneurs from inception to exit. We are a team of founders, operators and designers with experience successfully bringing software to market at scale.

You'll co-create with a proven studio team, led by John Carbrey (4x entrepreneur, $100M ARR), Krista LaRiviere (3x exited, E&Y Top Women Entrepreneur), Alan Smith (Strategyzer co-founder, $120M in products built), Prathna Ramesh (former MD of Maple Leaf Angels, $275M in follow-on capital), and Johnny Tong (0-to-1 builder, acquired by SAP and Stripe) bring a rare combination of operator exits, institutional investing, and AI product depth.

The Partnership
  • Founder equity with meaningful ownership from inception
  • Pre-seed capital committed by FutureSight for early hires and MVP development, with potential for follow-on funding
  • Venture building resources, including embedded design, engineering, growth, and fundraising support from day one
  • Investor and advisor network across vertical AI and early-stage capital markets
  • A true co-creation model in which you operate as CEO with FutureSight's cross-functional team as your partner
What you'll own

As Co-Founder & CEO, you will set the venture's direction and lead its execution.

  • Strategy - Refine the ICP, pricing model, and product positioning
  • Customer Development - Lead pilot placements with design-partner companies, convert them to paid retained relationships, and build the go-to-market motion
  • Product - Partner with the FutureSight product and engineering team to ship V1 and iterate on user feedback
  • Capital - Lead the seed raise, supported by FutureSight's network and traction
  • Team - Recruit and lead the founding team, and establish the cultural foundation of the company
Co-Founder Profile
  • Previous founding experience at a venture-backed company
  • Demonstrated success in B2B AI or B2B SaaS go-to-market, including consultative, relationship-driven sales and customer engagement
  • Fundraising fluency, with the ability to develop investor narratives and close capital
  • Proven ability to attract, develop, and retain top talent
  • Clear-eyed understanding of the risks and demands of co-founding a venture-backed company
  • Deep domain expertise in recruiting, staffing, or talent acquisition, as a builder operator or agency leader
How to Apply

Please submit your resume, LinkedIn profile, and a brief note on why this venture aligns with your goals as a founder. We will move quickly for the right candidate.

FutureSight is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and experiences.
