What is a founder?

Founders are individuals who start a new business, organization, or venture. They are responsible for developing the initial idea, assembling a team, and securing resources to launch the company. Founders often take on multiple roles in the early stages, such as product development, marketing, and fundraising. Their vision and leadership are critical to shaping the direction and culture of the organization. Over time, founders may continue to lead the company or transition into different roles as the business grows.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a founder, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Founder, you need strong business acumen, strategic vision, and a deep understanding of your target market, often supported by experience in entrepreneurship or relevant industry expertise. Familiarity with financial management tools, project management platforms, and digital marketing systems is typically necessary. Exceptional leadership, resilience, and the ability to communicate and inspire teams are vital soft skills for success in this role. These skills and qualities enable Founders to effectively launch, grow, and sustain a business in competitive environments.

What are some common challenges founders face in the early stages of building a company?

Founders often encounter challenges such as securing initial funding, building a reliable team, and finding product-market fit. Balancing multiple responsibilities—from business development to product management—can be overwhelming, especially with limited resources. Additionally, founders must quickly adapt to feedback and pivot strategies as needed, all while maintaining a clear vision and motivating their team. Building strong networks and seeking mentorship can help navigate these hurdles and increase the chances of early success.

What is the difference between Founder vs Entrepreneur?

AspectFounderEntrepreneur
RoleCreates and establishes a new company or product from scratchIdentifies opportunities and starts new businesses, which may include founding or managing multiple ventures
CredentialsOften has industry knowledge, business skills, and sometimes technical expertiseRequires business acumen, risk management skills, and often industry experience
Work EnvironmentTypically involved in startup development, innovation, and early-stage business activitiesEngages in business planning, funding, and scaling across various industries

While both founders and entrepreneurs are involved in starting new ventures, a founder specifically establishes a company or product, often as the original creator. An entrepreneur may start multiple businesses or pursue opportunities across industries, focusing on growth and innovation. The roles overlap but differ mainly in scope and focus.

Job description

About FlamApp.ai

Flam is building AI Infrastructure for Brands in Immersive Advertising-powering high-fidelity, app-less GenAI experiences across Digital, Broadcast TV, Retail, Communications, Print, OOH, and more.

Vision: The Immersive & Interactive Layer for Every Screen & Surface.

We’re redefining how people experience content-making moments interactive, shoppable, and measurable in real time. Backed by $22M in funding from RTP Capital, Dovetail, and others, Flam is trusted by global brands like Google, Samsung, and Emirates. We’re scaling fast-expanding GTM efforts across North America, EMEA, and Asia-and we’ve just opened our new HQ in the heart of San Francisco to build our next chapter.

Chief of Staff to CEO

Job Overview

We're looking for a sharp, commercially-minded generalist to join the Founder's Office with a specific mandate: accelerate and de-risk our GTM execution This is not a clean, paved runway-it’s a fast, unpredictable, early-stage ride. As one of the first on the ground, you’ll need to thrive in ambiguity, move quickly with incomplete information, and help others stay steady when things shift.

Key Responsibilities

GTM, Sales & Partnerships

  • Work shoulder-to-shoulder with the founder on the sales motion — deal prep, follow-ups, proposal turnaround, and keeping momentum on every live opportunity
  • Own pipeline hygiene and CRM discipline; make sure nothing slips and the founder always knows where every deal stands
  • Drive partnership development — source, qualify, and help negotiate partnership opportunities in the US market
  • Prepare the founder for every sales and partner meeting — account research, competitive intel, tailored talking points
  • Track win/loss patterns and market feedback, and feed it back into product and messaging

Product-Specific Growth Levers

  • Flam Instant — identify use cases and verticals (retail, packaging, print, events) where AR-driven physical-to-digital experiences convert into paid pilots; help build the outbound and agency-partnership motion
  • Flam Native Ads — work with brands, agencies, and media partners to land pilot campaigns; help shape packaging, pricing, and case studies that prove performance against static/video ad benchmarks
  • Visual Agents — identify early adopter use cases (sales enablement, support, demos) and help design proof-of-concept pitches that show ROI quickly; support integration conversations with prospective enterprise partners
  • Build and refine lightweight GTM playbooks per product as patterns emerge from live deals — qualification criteria, pricing conversations, objection handling
  • Track which product lines are converting fastest in the US market and help the founder reallocate time and priority accordingly

Execution & Follow-Through

  • Run trackers and follow-up systems that ensure GTM commitments (to prospects, partners, and internally) actually land
  • Own logistics and briefing docs for investor/board updates tied to commercial traction
  • Be the go-to "fixer" for operational blockers standing in the way of closing deals or launching partnerships

What we're looking for

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity with incomplete information — this is early-stage, and the motion is still being built
  • Commercially minded — genuinely energized by sales and partnerships, not just someone who schedules around them
  • Able to quickly get fluent in three distinct product motions (AR/physical, ad-tech, AI agents) and translate each into a growth plan
  • High ownership; can sit close to a deal without owning the title "salesperson," but can carry real accountability for outcomes
  • Strong written and verbal communicator — will represent the founder in front of prospects and partners at times
