Purpose


Contributes to the overall success of the Scotia Capital (USA) Inc. Finance & Regulatory team in the United States ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. ย Ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.ย 


What You'll Doย 

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.ย 
  • Responsible for supporting the preparation of the core regulatory reports required to be produced by a Broker Dealer, such as:
    o ย  ย FOCUS (Balance Sheet, Net Capital)
    o ย  ย 15c3-1 Daily Net Capitalย 
    o ย  ย 15c3-3 Daily Customer Reserve Comp
    o ย  ย Supplemental FINRA reporting
    o ย  ย TIC, FRY-15, CUSO
    o ย  ย US Dept. of Commerce Survey BE-605 and BE-185
    o ย  ย Bi-Monthly Short Interest Reports to FINRA
  • Assist in the development of procedures and flowcharts covering the preparation of the monthly FOCUS report, regulatory capital and client protection processes, and FRB reporting for TIC and Y-15
  • Attend industry conferences and training events to stay up to date on any new rules or regulation changes that can impact the broker dealer.
  • Assist in the preparation in daily and monthly analytics, quarterly board packages, and other various management packages.
  • Assist Manager(s) and Senior Manager(s) in both audit requests, and regulatory ad-hoc requests from regulators, external/internal auditors and FOR A. In addition to maintaining and monitor audit request logs to ensure team is closing out request and issues timely
  • Develop and enhance internal work papers to make process more efficient.
  • Support the Senior Manager, in working with Risk, Operations, Front Office, and Treasury in finding solutions to maximize the SCUSA balance sheet, reduce capital costs and grow the business while remaining in capital compliance.
  • Work with the key business support partners in learning and gaining an understanding of the business that's supported, to become effective and ensure the team is getting the right data.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. ย 
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment. ย 
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Use technology to tactically and strategically automated regulatory filings (i.e., 15c3-3 Customer Reserve, FR Y 15, FINRA Supplemental Reports) to increase, resiliency, transparency, and accuracy.ย
