Laboratory Technician l, Footwear Lab - Onsite

Intertek's Softlines Testing services enable retailers, brands and manufacturers of textiles, apparel, fashion accessories, footwear and home textiles to ensure the safety and quality of their products. Intertek performs softlines testing on items ranging from fabric samples to finished products, including apparel and footwear for children and adults (pajamas, sweaters, jeans, outerwear) and home furnishings (bedding, curtains, furniture fabric, rugs). What are we looking for?

The Laboratory Technician l, Footwear Lab is responsible for performing the testing activities in the footwear laboratory and coordinating the testing activities to meet the service requirements of the laboratory.

Shift/Schedule:  8 am to 5 pm local time, Mon to Fri

Salary & Benefits Information

The base wage or salary range for this position ranges from $18.00 to $ 22.00 per hour, depending on experience. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

What You'll Do:

  • Prepare test specimens, perform testing, and reporting of test results into the Laboratory LIMS system. The test includes, physical, color fastness, pH value tests on footwear products and materials
  • Read understand, and follow lab standard operating procedures, or Standard test Methods and /or client test methods as required by the customers
  • Co-ordinate work with other department team members to complete testing, reporting and report issue in a timely manner
  • Communicate with account manager to obtain required number of samples and/or clarifications about the projects from the client
  • Communicate project status details to Team Leader /Lab manager and timely communicate any delays with the account manager
  • Provide support in test selection, review of lab test results and explain test results
  • Assist in keeping inventory of laboratory and equipment supplies necessary for the day-to-day functioning of the laboratory and in compiling a list of supplies to be ordered in timely manner
  • Organize tested and remnant samples from laboratory for sample archiving by logistics department
  • Demonstrate test procedure to auditors, clients and support account managers during client visits
  • Assist in ISO 17025 laboratory accreditation and calibration activities of the laboratory and perform daily, weekly, and monthly Quality Assurance/Quality Control checks on equipment
  • Maintain general cleanliness and upkeep of the laboratory

Minimum  Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • One year of work experience in ISO 17025 accredited laboratory
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Fluency in using computers is required
  • Color differentiation testing to be completed with passing score, as a minimum requirement, upon signing/ accepting offer documents

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Laboratory experience in testing footwear products is a plus
  • Experience and general knowledge of footwear, Leather, fabrics, footwear specific testing standards, and U.S. & Canadian regulatory requirements on consumer products is preferred
