Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Graduate Assistant position involves assisting the Head Football Coach with management of the football team, and will be assigned a position group. Individuals are responsible for assisting in the comprehensive day to day operations of the football program including, but not limited to, coaching assistance, scheduling, and attendance at meetings and events. Candidates are required to excel in communication skills, punctuality, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Irregular work hours such as weekends, holidays, and evenings are expected. Experience playing collegiate football is preferred.

Responsibilities:
  • Coach an assigned position group.
  • Assist with recruiting initiatives, recruitment visits, and program fundraising.
  • Assist with team practices, ingame management, and film breakdown.
  • Assist with scheduling, planning travel itineraries, and gameday preparations.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Head Coach and Assistant Football Coaches.
  • Qualifications:
  • Must be admitted and enrolled in a graduate program at Avila University. International students are not eligible for graduate assistantships.
  • Undergraduate degree and admission to a Master’s program at Avila University.
  • Experience playing collegiate football preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment that prioritizes academic success and personal growth.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to attend meetings, practices, and other scheduled events, and travel as required.
  • Successful candidates should showcase their work and experience in contributing to a climate that supports a diverse student body, serves first-generation college students, multilingual learners, and contributions to equity and social justice through their work.
