Job description

Food Service Supervisor – Full Time

Facility: Park Avenue Extended Care
Position: Food Service Supervisor
Location: Long Beach, New York
Schedule: Full Time | Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, including every other weekend
Salary: $60,000–$65,000 per year

Park Avenue Extended Care is seeking a dedicated and experienced Food Service Supervisor to oversee our dietary department and ensure residents receive high-quality meals and exceptional dining service.

The ideal candidate is an organized, hands-on leader with strong communication skills and a passion for food service and resident satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, train, and support dietary staff to ensure high-quality food service

  • Prepare and maintain employee schedules and assignments

  • Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, and professional appearance

  • Oversee meal distribution, including proper portions and tray arrangement

  • Ensure resident meal trays are delivered and picked up promptly

  • Monitor food quality, temperatures, presentation, and portion control

  • Assist with food preparation and meal service as needed

  • Visit resident floors regularly to evaluate meal service and address resident concerns

  • Promote and maintain proper sanitation and food safety standards throughout the kitchen and dining areas

  • Ensure proper operation, cleaning, and maintenance of food service equipment

  • Report equipment issues and maintenance needs to Engineering/Maintenance

  • Support compliance with facility policies, dietary standards, and applicable regulations

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Completion of a 90-hour course in food, nutrition, and personnel management in food service, or equivalent qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) preferred

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in food service preferred

  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment

  • Commitment to providing excellent service to residents
