The role of the Food Scientist is to provide technical leadership and assistance to Marketing, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and R&D. This is a hands-on food science position, in which the individual will help to manage several cross-functional teams to develop new products, improve existing products, and help drive cost-saving alternatives. The individual will serve as the technical liaison to the manufacturing facility, ensuring food safety and product quality.
Essential Duties:
  • Collaborate with QA and Manufacturing to identify and monitor process parameters, enabling better control over the manufacturing process.
  • Reduce process variation and ensure the processes run under control and with the least amount of deviation.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop new products.
  • Develop strategies to evaluate current products and research new technology to develop superior products.
  • Review and update existing standards, specifications, and requirements to comply with changes in regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Ensure quality products are produced in compliance with company specifications and GMP standards.
  • Support new product development.
  • Work with plant personnel on all manufacturing scale-up/trial run projects.
  • Provide hands-on guidance during the manufacturing of new products.
  • Oversee product stability and shelf life testing.
  • Attend appropriate scientific seminars and technical meetings to keep current with technological advances in QA, Process Development, and Manufacturing.
  • Develop and prepare laboratory benchtop prototypes.
  • Interface with vendors, suppliers, outside laboratories, and consultants
  • Investigate cost-saving measures utilizing automated equipment and computerization.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in food technology, food science, chemistry, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in statistical analysis.
  • Possess knowledge of FDA, USDA, and GMP guidelines for food manufacturing facilities.
  • Possess strong knowledge and understanding of food safety, HACCP, and GMPs' sanitary design/controls.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have strong verbal/written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be detailed and results-oriented.
  • Team player attitude.

Compensation:
Base Pay Range:
$81,772.00 - $136,287.00
Final base pay will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to; role responsibilities, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and/or internal pay equity. Please keep in mind that we consider internal pay equity and hiring at the maximum of the salary range uncommon.
