Job description

Stoughton Health has an excellent opportunity for a Food Prep Assistant to join our Food and Nutrition team on a Per Diem basis.
The Food Prep Assistant is responsible for preparation, assembly, and service of patient meal orders. Prepares café food orders at appropriate temperatures. This position receives training which will properly teach the prep assistant how to prepare hot foods. The Food Prep Assistant may also be responsible for stocking, register duties, cleaning and sanitizing dishes while also maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen and storage environment.
Essential Functions:
  • Prepares menu items for patient meal service, café, vending, and catered functions
  • Portions and serves food accurately and neatly according to diet and menu items
  • Inventories, assembles and distributes food supplies to nursing units and vending areas in a timely manner
  • Transports meal trays and food carts to patient floors and retrieves empty trays and carts in a sanitary manner
  • Assists in stocking and rotating supplies
  • Performs cleaning duties in all areas including using dishmachine and manual washing/sanitizing process

Position Requirements:
  • Required: Basic reading and comprehension skills
  • Preferred: High School graduate or equivalent
  • Professional Experience: No experience required. Previous experience in Food and Nutrition services preferred
  • Computer Competency: Basic Computer Skills are expected for this position. Access email, reference internal websites, access electronic health records, and use online learning tools to remain current with continuing education requirements.
  • Microsoft Office Suite Skills: Beginning Skills - Able to perform basic things such as opening a document, change font, save a document, write a letter.

Work Shift:
  • Per Diem (As Needed)
  • Minimum of 2 shifts per month
