The Machine Operator's primary duty is to ensure the production of high-quality corrugated products efficiently and safely. Key tasks include:
- Setup and Operation:Â Reviewing work orders to determine specifications (materials, cutting lines, printing). Setting up the machine by installing components like plates and die boards. Starting the machine and adjusting controls for speed, tension, and glue or ink flow.
- Quality Control and Troubleshooting:Â Inspecting finished products using tools like rulers and micrometers to detect defects. Making necessary adjustments to correct issues and removing substandard materials. Escalating quality issues when needed.
- Production and Safety: Stacking and sorting finished goods for packaging or shipping. Recording production data, downtime, and other issues. Strictly adhering to all MIOSHA safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) for maintenance .
Skills & Qualifications
Successful operators will possess the following qualifications:
- Experience and Education:Â Previous experience in flexo folder gluer corrugated manufacturing. Specific experience with Langston machinery is preferred.
- Technical and Physical Skills:Â The ability to read and interpret work orders and specifications. Basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting and maintenance, good communication skills for teamwork, and the physical ability to stand for long periods and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
Compensation
- Hourly Pay: The hourly rate for this position generally ranges from $18 to $20 per hour, depending on experience. Experienced operators may qualify for a start rate of $20 per year.
- Shift:Â Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
