Job description

SUMMARY: Provide direction to all Food Services personnel to ensure hospital goals are met.  Exhibit leadership qualities that will inspire, motivate and develop the department into a cohesive team. 

BAXTER HEALTH COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Understands and adheres to Baxter Health standards as they appear in Dynamic Health and Healthstream Policy Manager.

Required to work with the Director of Food & Nutrition Services regularly to carry out, initiate and/or implement best practices for the Baxter Health Food & Nutrition Services Department.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: Minimum 1 year supervisory experience in organizing the workforce to obtain budget and production goals.  Front line service dietary or food service experience is preferred.  Previous healthcare experience desired. 

Certifications: Serv-Safe Manager or must be able to obtain within 6 months from date of hire

Other: Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.                                                                                

Must be able to identify and implement audits, inspections and programs through independent decision-making.

Complete understanding of all aspects of Food and Nutrition Services, including knowledge of all diets, safety, infection control, department cleanliness, production, and sanitation, and tray deliveries, count and deposit cafeteria money daily. Ability to manage workflow, ability to communicate and interact positively with coworkers and other hospital staff. Proficient computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without an accommodation.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to perform the following: ability to move about freely, extensive standing and walking. Ability to bend, squat and twist, and frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with proper body mechanics.   Ability to communicate orally and in writing.  Will visit all areas of the hospital and support facilities. Must be able to tolerate cleaning chemicals, etc.

Hospital environment; works in all areas of the hospital and support facilities 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a position in a hospital setting which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Office staff: 5 days a week, Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts.

Must be willing to work flexible schedule to meet staffing needs and fill in for other positions when needed.
