Job description

We're seeking an exceptional Lead Editor to join our creative leadership team. In this pivotal role, you'll drive visual innovation across client accounts, elevating storytelling that delivers measurable performance through your creative vision, technical expertise, and leadership capabilities. As the creative cornerstone of your pod, you'll directly impact client success by shaping campaign direction and establishing creative standards.

Lead Editors bridge the gap between strategic objectives and visual execution, transforming marketing concepts into high-performing creative assets. You'll define the visual identity for clients while fostering a culture of creative excellence and operational efficiency within your team. You'll work closely with Post-Production Supervisors on team performance strategies and your own leadership development.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Leadership

  • Establish creative standards through hands-on leadership and visual direction for your pod
  • Provide actionable feedback that elevates edit quality and drives measurable performance results
  • Ensure editors thoroughly review their work for both creative excellence and technical accuracy
  • Personally edit high-priority campaigns to establish quality benchmarks for the team
  • Identify and implement successful visual techniques based on performance data

Team Excellence

  • Make well-informed decisions about team composition to maintain high performance standards
  • Provide focused, efficient feedback that prioritizes immediate improvement over prolonged training
  • Evaluate editor performance using productivity metrics and ROI analysis
  • Identify necessary skills and resources required for current and upcoming client projects

Asset Management

  • Partner with Production to ensure footage meets quality standards and brand & legal compliance
  • Review new footage promptly and provide specific, constructive feedback
  • Curate strong footage selects to maximize creative possibilities for your editing team
  • Build and maintain organized asset libraries through strategic delegation
  • Develop innovative approaches to repurpose existing assets for maximum impact

Strategic Collaboration

  • Align with Production and Strategy on quality standards and client visual requirements
  • Share insights during pod meetings that connect editing approaches to performance results
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing within your editing team to elevate overall capabilities
  • Implement emerging technologies and AI tools to enhance creative capabilities through strategic delegation

Process Innovation

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve editing workflows and quality standards
  • Research and delegate exploration of new tools and techniques that could benefit the team
  • Balance operational efficiency with creative excellence in all processes
  • Actively contribute to testing and developing new methodologies and resources
  • Escalate recurring challenges to management with proposed solutions

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional video editing experience with at least 1 year in a senior or leadership role
  • Previous experience at a performance marketing agency, creative agency, or in-house creative team
  • Proven ability to provide insightful, actionable creative direction and feedback
  • Expert-level proficiency in Premiere Pro and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Solid knowledge of motion graphics and After Effects
  • Strong understanding of performance marketing principles and social platform requirements
  • Portfolio demonstrating versatility in style, pacing, and visual storytelling
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to articulate creative decisions clearly
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous management experience leading a team of video editors
  • Experience in performance marketing or data-informed creative development
  • Working knowledge of emerging AI tools in post-production workflows
  • Familiarity with AI technologies for video editing and content creation
  • Experience collaborating with strategy teams on concept development
  • Demonstrated success in process improvement initiatives
  • Experience with asset management systems and footage organization
  • Bachelor's degree in Film, Video Production, Digital Media, or related field

Location:  Los Angeles, CA (On-Site) 

Compensation:

TubeScience provides the wage ranges it reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for all remote roles and as otherwise required by applicable law. The expected range of starting pay for this role is $85,000 - $105,000 annually.  Actual compensation may vary within the listed range based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, experience, and specific geographic location.
