Job description

Central Follow-Up Specialist

What Will You Be Doing!
  • Works in accordance with affiliate Medical Standards & Guidelines; provide education and advice to patients within affiliate protocols and scope of practice as defined below.
  • When patients reach out to CFU to request their lab results, the CFU Assistant can notify patients of normal test results (with the exception of Cervical Cancer Screening tests and imaging results) and document that notification accordingly. The CFU Assistant will task the licensed CFU team members to review normal CCS results, normal imaging results, and all abnormal results to connect with the patient to review those results.
  • Send 3rd notification letters and reminder letters for recommended treatment/follow up/referrals and document their completion.
  • Schedule appointments for patients for specific treatment, follow up of abnormal lab results, or in-house referrals and document their completion.
  • Complete and transmit Confidential Morbidity Reports for all positive reportable communicable diseases to the county and/or state Public Health Department. Document CMRs accordingly.
  • Transmit or phone in Expedited Partner Therapy to preferred pharmacies for patients' partners in chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis cases, according to state rules and regulations. Document EPT prescriptions accordingly.
  • Print, pack, stamp, and mail hard copy letters via USPS in a HIPAA-compliant manner.
  • Scan in all after hours consulting nurse faxes into the Electronic Health Record under the correct patient and task the appropriate CFU Triage RN for review and care coordination, as needed.
  • Respond to MyChart messages that request non-clinical needs or normal lab results.
  • Review, process, and notify patients of Prior Authorization claims for medications and procedures.
  • Abstract incoming medical records and task them to CFU Advance Practice Clinicians to review; respond to incoming Release of Information requests; forward ROI requested by subpoena to the Quality department for legal review. Document receipt or release of medical records accordingly.
  • Review and respond to HEDIS requests from payors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in an OB/GYN-related field preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience with any Planned Parenthood affiliate strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience with remote/telehealth work strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and information technology strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
Salary Range:

$21.30 - $28.36

Position Type:

Full-time - Non-exempt

Hybrid position – must work in-person at a health center site at least 1 day a week.
