Job Summary and Mission
The job of a Flooring Sales Consultant is to sell flooring products to customers both in the stores and at their homes, service customer accounts, and assure a desired level of profitability on each sale. The Flooring Sales Consultant plays an important role in the productivity and profitability of the store. The Flooring Sales Consultant reports directly to the Sales Manager and works with other Sales Specialists to grow sales for the store.
Flooring Sales Consultant Responsibilities
The Flooring Sales Consultant's primary responsibilities are to sell flooring products to customers both in the stores and at their homes, service customer accounts, and assure a desired level of profitability on each sale.
Selling to Customers
  • Maintain a level of professional knowledge about flooring products in order to effectively sell to customers.
  • Use the appropriate sales process and customer service approach to sell flooring products and related services to customers.
  • Attend regular company-sponsored training sessions to ensure continuous learning and improvement.
  • Engage in a collaborative goal setting process by measuring, tracking, and evaluating individual performance with your Sales Manager.
  • Contributes to the collaborative creation of a development plan to support goal achievement and professional growth and development.
  • Assist in store promotions and events by actively participating in the implementation of the promotion and/or event.
  • Manage the customer product sample lending process.
  • Take financial responsibility in processing customer transactions (deposits, payments).
  • Write and process sales orders and quotes by using measuring and estimating techniques to accurately account for the total cost of the sale.
  • Coordinate with the Sales Manager to submit and approve all job quotes and sales orders.
  • Communicate with the customer to schedule measurement and installation appointments.
  • Hold administrative responsibilities including filling-out, filing, and processing appropriate paperwork.

Customer Service
  • Go beyond what is expected by creating and offering an environment of outstanding customer service.
  • Contribute to the sales floor activity and profitability by continuously learning, reviewing, and analyzing product information and data.
  • Review the information made available by manufacturers about flooring products on a regular basis.
  • Contribute to customer satisfaction even when the sale belongs to another Sales Specialist.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by responding to and resolving customer complaints. While involving the Sales Manager, take action to resolve and prevent further issues.
  • Follow up with customers before and after their orders are complete using preferred communication methods.
  • Assist in maintaining store cleanliness including the organization of samples.
  • Maintain store neatness and cleanliness by removing or discarding unnecessary materials, packaging, or papers.
  • Meet all core standards as defined in the Core Standard Catalog for Carpet One.

Flooring Sales Consultant Requirements
  • In order to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty at a satisfactory level.
  • This job may also require you to drive between multiple locations including, but not limited to, customer sites.
  • The Flooring Sales Consultant will be expected to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the business, standards, and products of Carpet One.

Education and Experience:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Base Salary $52,000/year plus commission
Targeted earning range $78-145k/year
