Summary

Does managing a project that starts with raw material procurement and finishes with the delivery of a 35,000-pound simulator moving on a 6 degree-of-freedom motion platform sound exciting to you? Would you enjoy working with a multi-discipline team of engineering professionals on a mission to make aviation, maritime, and ground vehicle platforms safer?
CAE, the world leader in simulation and training, is looking for experienced Project Engineers to join our simulation team in Tampa, FL. CAE's simulation programs are leading the industry in high-tech development of mission rehearsal and training devices and applications, pioneering the development of simulation as a service, virtual/mixed reality, off-site data centers/cloud computing complexes, and traditional on-premise training centers with reduced hardware footprints using virtualization for real-time simulation applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads a team with an infectiously positive attitude and enjoys your work.
  • Acts as a Business Owner for the SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprise) lifecycle. Defines Features/Epics for each Program Increment (PI) planning session to clearly communicate program needs and monitors progress against program schedules.
  • Communicates clearly with Product Owners and engineers but is still flexible to adapt plans throughout the lifecycle, as required.
  • Manages orderly progress with software development by participating in Software Configuration Control Board (SCCB) reviews and coordinates with Configuration Management (CM) engineers for software releases.
  • Applies a good understanding of the waterfall and Agile acquisition lifecycles.
  • Copes with disruptions to their plans and can adjust the plans with an infectiously positive attitude.
  • Defects happen. We need someone that can handle them effectively.
  • Create, review, and provide constructive feedback to technical documents.
  • Leads a team with excitement through the construction of a simulator from contract award to the very rewarding final sell-off of a training device with a fully satisfied customer.
  • Speaks comfortably in public and enjoys leading presentations with customers and suppliers.
  • Enjoys working as a Program Team with Program Managers. Someone who acts as the focal point for all customer technical matters, both hardware and software.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an engineering discipline (Computer Science, Engineering, Aeronautics, or similar) is required. Previous experience leading hardware and/or software development or acquisition projects will be considered.
  • 5+ years' work experience
  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Preferred Skills
  • Flight simulation experience with detailed knowledge of flight simulator hardware and software technology
  • Demonstrable ability to create and understand technical documents related to aircraft, computers, electronics, and flight simulation technology
  • Familiarity with program management and business productivity tools such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, JIRA and Sharepoint
  • Familiarity with modern software engineering tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Visual Studio, Docker and Hypervisors (Hyper-V, VMWare)
  • Familiarity with hardware engineering tools such as Windchill PLM, Creo, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Microstation, etc.

Work is performed in an environment where irritants such as noise from telephones, temperature, and lighting variations may exist, but there is little chance of injury, accident, or occupational health problems.
