Space Systems Engineer – Mid Level - TGAB

LOCATION: Eglin AFB, FL

CLEARANCE: Active Secret

JOB STATUS: FT

TRAVEL: 20%

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Mid-Level Space Systems Engineer for the TMAS 2 96 CTG Task Order, supporting the 45 TS / TGAB. This position provides support to the 45 Test Squadron – Space and Intelligence Command and Control Systems Test Flight at Eglin AFB.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Technical BS Degree and 3-10 years of applicable experience. Additional experience may be substituted for education.
  • Active Secret clearance is required and must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship os required.
  • Relevant technical experience in at least one of the following fields: space operations, astrodynamics and space sensors
  • Ability to interface with prime contractors developing the system under test (SUT) regarding test objectives, schedules, budgets, and methods of test.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a team and to lead and direct the work of others.
  • Experience writing programs or scripts for simulation, data parsing, data reduction, automated testing or test scripts.
  • Experience with MATLAB and/or other data visualization and computational tools.
  • Familiarity with one or more programming languages (e.g., FORTRAN, Java, Python, C/C++), or with software development, most notably service-oriented architecture or web services and computer network protocols.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Proficiency in the use and integration of MS Office applications.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • A current and active Top Secret Security Clearance with Special Compartmented Information (SCI) access is preferred.
  • Experience with AFSCN, AST, DARC, ATLAS, JMS, SPADOC, Space Command and Control (C2) and Space Domain Awareness, On Orbit Operations.
  • Experience with Combatant Commanders Integrated Command and Control System (CCIC2S), and space surveillance network messaging.
  • Knowledge of satellite observation association and orbit determination.
  • Experience with agile software development methods and practices.
  • Knowledge of, or experience with Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC) or other DoD operational test agency concepts, procedures, and methodologies.
  • Experience obtaining data from databases using Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Experience related to DOD C4ISR system acquisition, systems engineering, and test engineering.
  • Experience interfacing with developmental contractors regarding test objectives, schedules, budgets, and methods of test.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, execute, and report on Developmental Test & Evaluation activities for Space Command and Control (C2) and Space Domain Awareness systems. These systems include: Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC), ATLAS, and other systems that are part of the United States Space Force portfolio. Types of tasks include test and evaluation, test support, logistics, sustainment, operations analyses, technical studies, and various analyses and support activities including cost/price, and program/system security.
  • Conduct data analysis and apply knowledge of engineering technology under the direction of engineering staff. These tasks include test and evaluation, test support, logistics, sustainment, operations analyses, technical studies, and various analyses and support activities including program/system security.
  • Interface with Space Command and Control Program-level working groups on inputs, and recommendations.
  • Assist in the development of system requirements, performance measures, test phase entry/exit criteria, and analysis of design constraints functional capabilities and metrics.
  • Support Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E), Operational Test (OT), Force Development Evaluation (FDE), Risk Reduction Testing (RRT) and certification for test readiness; identify deficiencies, verify compliance with specifications and standards, and assess stability of various system configurations.
  • Support or develop agile test strategies and methods.
  • Support senior engineers when interacting with System Program Offices, other services, and development contractors.
  • Prepare, execute, review, and analyze test plans, procedures, metrics, and reports throughout the software development life cycle. Develop and write methods of test, Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), test cases, test objectives/procedures, test directives, technical or letter reports, analysis and review of requirements, and other test process documents as required in the conduct of testing.
  • Coordinate schedules, pre-and post-test activities, logistics of test planning, and test results.
  • Travel up to 20 percent of time to contractors' facilities, test sites, and other locations (OCONUS and CONUS).
