Job Description
Timmons Group is seeking Civil Project Engineer II or III candidates for our Land Development Group locatedin our Washington, DC office.
Projects range from large scale industrial and distribution projects to public land development projects like schools, jails, fire stations, community centers and parks. We assist our clients with zoning entitlements, civil site plan approvals, and construction administration support. Our project engineers will typically work in a team of 2-3 design engineers and a project manager to bring our client's vision to life. The complexity and fast paced nature of our client's needs creates a dynamic environment for our team members and fosters a culture of teamwork, diverse training opportunities, and builds a sense of ownership in the successful outcome of the project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
  • Design project components using office software, modeling tools, and AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Perform engineering calculations and problem-solving using formulas and computer tools
  • Prepare material specifications through research and equipment catalogs
  • Develop design details and complete plan sets
  • Conduct research and prepare objective summary reports for project completion
  • Assist in preparing engineering and construction cost estimates
  • Perform field observations, inspections, and data collection as directed
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal design teams under senior staff guidance

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
  • EIT preferred
  • 2-8 years of professional experience in land development civil engineering preferred (entry-level candidates will be considered)
  • Experience preparing civil engineering site plans (site layout, utilities, grading & drainage, erosion control, stormwater management) is a plus
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Compensation: Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000. Offers are based on a range of job-related factors such as internal equity, experience, skills, education, credentials and role complexity.
