Position Overview

Responsibilities & Qualifications
The Demand Planning Leader is responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of customer sales demand. They lead the Demand Planning Analysts to validate customer forecasts and generate the regional value stream demand forecast. They work with leadership teams at the global, regional, and plant levels to generate consensus forecasts in alignment with Novelis sales and operations plans.This position reports to the Manager, Integrated Planning or the Director, Supply Chain Operations.
Responsibilities
  • Develop the rolling 24 month unconstrained demand forecast and review with the Commercial Team, adjust as appropriate, submit timely to the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) team
  • Collaborate with the Commercial and Account Management Teams to understand customer demand and industry trends
  • Validate disaggregated sales demand against regional, customer, product, and site capacity allocations to ensure alignment to S&OP, supervise constraining activities as needed
  • Ensure demand loaded in the planning system is aligned with the S&OP plan
  • Work closely with Master Planning team to ensure customer requirements are planning properly and in alignment with S&OP
  • Proactively communicate to the Master Planning team significant deviations between sales and forecast and of significant changes in the future demand plan
  • Establish allocation strategies and provide direction to the Commercial/AMS team to allocate orders to align with the constrained S&OP demand plan
  • Monitor inventory levels and create action plans to meet finished good inventory targets
  • Develop forecast accuracy metrics
  • Analyze sales order history and customer/market intelligence to improve forecast accuracy
  • Identify and track contributing factors to forecast errors to make recommendations and develop action plans to drive forecast accuracy improvements and reduce errors
  • Work with the Commercial team and Customer Service teams to monitor and improve forecast accuracy
  • Annually, work with the Commercial team to develop the demand plan for the 5-year Strategic plan

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in business or similar subject area
  • 5-7 years related experience in multinational manufacturing company
  • Demand planning work experience
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong Excel skills (intermediate level)
  • Leadership skills to direct, lead and develop team members to accomplish objectives
  • Experience working with a forecasting system
  • SAP experience an asset
