Job description

We are looking for an experienced Men's Sr Apparel Designer to join a retail team in Manhattan Beach, California on a Long-term Contract assignment. In this role, you will help drive men’s apparel design from early concept through production while working closely with design leadership and cross-functional partners. The position is ideal for someone who combines strong creative judgment with technical expertise and can manage multiple seasonal deadlines in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:

• Drive the development of seasonal men’s apparel concepts and carry designs forward through each stage of execution.

• Build and maintain detailed tech packs and accurate product data within Flex PLM to support development and production readiness.

• Collaborate with materials, merchandising, and costing partners to shape fabrics, trims, and print direction that supports both brand vision and target margins.

• Analyze domestic and international market activity to identify emerging trends, relevant silhouettes, fabric ideas, and competitor movement.

• Work with design leadership to define fit intent and communicate clear direction to technical design teams for consistent product execution.

• Share design revisions, timeline updates, and development priorities with cross-functional stakeholders to keep seasonal calendars on track.

• Manage several product timelines at once, balancing shifting priorities in a fast-paced and highly collaborative setting.

• Address development obstacles with a solutions-oriented mindset and escalate issues when needed to maintain progress.

• Apply a refined eye for style, color, and customer relevance to create product that aligns with the brand’s aesthetic.

• Support product execution with strong knowledge of garment construction, sewing methods, trim application, and fabrication details.

• 7+ years of experience in apparel design, with preference for men’s apparel, active, or lifestyle product categories.
• Degree in Apparel Design, Product Design, or a closely related field.
• Strong command of garment construction, fit, fabrication, trim usage, and the apparel development process.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; familiarity with InDesign is beneficial.
• Experience creating technical packages and managing style information in Flex PLM is preferred.
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office and standard computer applications, including Mac-based environments.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively, stay organized, and meet deadlines while partnering across multiple teams.
