Job description

Citi Wealth is seeking a senior fixed income professional to lead the Americas Fixed Income Advisory function within its Global Capital Markets organization. This role is the primary owner of the fixed income narrative for Citi Wealth in North America and Latin America - responsible for generating and communicating clear, compelling fixed income strategy, thematic investment ideas, and actionable trade recommendations that help advisors and clients navigate fixed income markets with confidence.
The successful candidate will advise clients on their existing fixed income holdings, identify thematic opportunities across rates and credit markets, and develop curated lists and frameworks that make fixed income accessible and actionable for both advisors and clients. They will build and grow their own book of active private banking clients through direct coverage while simultaneously serving as the key fixed income resource for Citi Wealth's internal advisor network.
The Direct to Desk component of this role means the candidate will engage directly with clients - providing real-time fixed income strategy, trade ideas, and implementation guidance in a high-touch, relationship-driven model. The role partners closely with Fixed Income Trading, the Chief Investment Office (CIO), and Sales teams to ensure advisory views are grounded in market reality and executable.
Key Responsibilities
Fixed Income Strategy & Idea Generation
  • Own and drive the fixed income investment narrative for Citi Wealth North America and Latin America, developing and communicating thematic views, tactical trade ideas, and actionable recommendations across rates and credit markets.
  • Advise clients on their existing fixed income holdings, helping them optimize positioning, manage duration and credit risk, and take advantage of thematic and tactical opportunities as they arise.
  • Develop and maintain curated fixed income lists - including bond ladders, thematic credit baskets, and tactical trade ideas - that advisors and clients can use to navigate fixed income markets effectively.
  • Partner with the CIO and Fixed Income Trading to ensure advisory content is analytically rigorous, market-aware, and aligned with the firm's broader investment outlook.
  • Clearly formulate and articulate fixed income advice in a manner that is accessible, compelling, and actionable for private wealth clients across varying levels of fixed income sophistication.

Client Coverage & Business Development
  • Build and grow a direct book of active private banking clients, serving as their primary fixed income advisor and point of contact for fixed income strategy and implementation.
  • Engage directly with clients via the Direct to Desk model, providing real-time market insights, trade ideas, and execution support in coordination with Fixed Income Trading.
  • Partner with Private Bankers, Relationship Managers, and Sales teams to deepen client relationships and identify new business opportunities across the fixed income spectrum.

Advisor Enablement
  • Serve as the go-to fixed income resource for Citi Wealth's internal advisor network, providing market insights, trade ideas, and client-ready content that advisors can leverage in their own client conversations.
  • Create and deliver high-quality, compelling fixed income content - including written commentary, curated lists, presentations, and live market updates - that drives advisor engagement and client action.
  • Conduct regular internal training sessions, market briefings, and investment forums to elevate the fixed income knowledge and confidence of the advisor community.

Leadership & Talent Development
  • Lead and manage the Americas Fixed Income Advisory team, setting clear expectations, fostering a collaborative culture, and developing talent across the team.
  • Drive a performance-oriented culture focused on business growth, client impact, and intellectual rigor.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in fixed income markets, fixed income research, or advisory roles within a financial institution, private bank, or wealth management platform.
  • Strong product knowledge across rates and credit markets, including investment-grade and high-yield corporate bonds, municipal bonds, and government securities. Securitized products experience is not required for this role.
  • Demonstrated experience advising high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth private wealth clients on fixed income strategy and implementation.
  • Proven ability to clearly formulate and articulate fixed income advice - translating market complexity into clear, actionable guidance for clients and advisors.
  • Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills - this role requires the ability to command a room, inspire action, and represent Citi Wealth's fixed income franchise at the highest level.
  • Series 7, 63, and 65 (or 66) licenses required (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe).

Skills and Competencies
  • Fixed income market expertise across rates and credit
  • Thematic idea generation and tactical trade idea development
  • Exceptional client-facing communication and public speaking
  • Advisor enablement and curated content creation
  • Business development and relationship management
