Job description

As the Trader II, you'll exhibit elevated proficiency in mortgage trading, with a specialization in whole loan trading. This role is responsible for supporting the execution and optimization of trading strategies, assisting with loan aggregation, pool formation, price discovery, and proactively identifying market opportunities. You'll serve as a vital knowledge resource for more junior team members and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to enhance team performance and execution quality.

About the role

  • Execute sales of mortgage loan pools using established mortgage trading strategies meant to maximize profitswhile reducing risk

  • Monitor and manage our pipeline of loans not yet sold

  • Create, maintain, and deepen relationships with buyers, investors, and trading counterparties, escalating complex issues as needed

  • Prepare reports detailing profits and lossesof executed trades

  • Assist in the development of mortgage trading strategies meant to maximize profits while reducing risk

  • Identify and share process improvements for pipeline management and trade execution efficiency

  • Explore new mortgage loan sale opportunities

  • Support the development and launch of new mortgage products

  • Regularly communicate emerging market dynamics and valuation trends to teammembersand other business areas

  • Represent the trading team in projects and meetings and provide subject matter input on whole loan product structure and execution issues to trading and cross-functional teams

  • Mentor and coach other team members on core trading tasks, whole loan concepts, and operational best practices

About you

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in financial services, capital markets, or mortgage trading, with hands-on exposure to mortgage-backed securities and/or whole loan transactions

  • Advanced analytical and logical reasoning skills, especially as applied to trading and asset valuation

  • Proficiency in spreadsheet software, financial modeling, and basic data visualization
