Description DSHS FTAA Fircrest - Maintenance Mechanic 2 Join our team at Fircrest Residential Habilitation Center (RHC) in Shoreline, where you'll play a vital role in maintaining a safe, functional, and supportive environment for individuals with developmental disabilities. As a Maintenance Mechanic 2, you will perform skilled, journey-level carpentry work including repairs, renovations, and the design and installation of specialized equipment that directly supports client care and daily operations. Your work ensures the reliability of campus facilities and contributes to the comfort, safety, and well-being of those who live and work at Fircrest.

About Fircrest Residential Habilitation Center Fircrest Residential Habilitation Center (RHC), located in Shoreline just north of Seattle, provides residential support to approximately 200 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Established in 1959, Fircrest has evolved from a medical model to a person-centered approach that focuses on promoting independence and community integration. The center offers specialized nursing care and habilitative services funded in part by programs regulated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Fircrest's location provides residents access to major medical and educational facilities, as well as opportunities to engage in a variety of cultural, sporting, and outdoor activities in the Seattle area. Some of what you'll do: Perform journey-level carpentry work for repair, maintenance, and alteration of interior finishes, structures, and building systems Install, repair, and maintain flooring, drywall, framing, roofing, concrete, fencing, and related structural components Maintain and repair windows, glazing, screens, gutters, and downspouts Service and repair automatic doors and associated mechanical systems across campus buildings Manage and maintain campus-wide key, lock, and access control systems, including computerized card access Design and fabricate specialized mechanical apparatus and client workstation devices for program use Conduct building condition assessments, recommend repairs, and complete work requests with accurate tracking of time and materials Desired skills, knowledge, and abilities: Broad knowledge of construction, maintenance, and repair methods, materials, tools, and safety practices across multiple trades Skilled in carpentry, flooring, drywall, painting, mechanical systems, and fabrication of specialized apparatus Ability to manage and track large-scale key, lock, and access control systems using computerized databases Experience planning, coordinating, and completing maintenance and construction projects within established timelines Ability to read blueprints and plans, estimate materials and labor, and safely operate tools and vehicles Proficient in recordkeeping and reporting using maintenance management systems Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions, respond to emergencies, and work effectively in a diverse, client-centered environment Who should apply. Professionals who have: A high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work, or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanical trade A valid driver's license Additional information: Work schedule: 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM, 40 hours per week.

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
