Topo provides fractional embedded accounting and finance support to venture-backed companies. Topo's customers look to us as early-stage company experts focused on helping their companies succeed.

We are hiring an Accounting Implementation Manager to lead the onboarding and accounting systems implementation process for new customers. This role combines controller-level technical expertise with a customer-facing implementation focus-ensuring clients are set up for long-term success from day one.

As the Accounting Implementation Manager, you will guide new customers through their onboarding journey, assess and implement accounting systems, and build scalable processes tailored to their needs. You will still leverage your deep accounting expertise, but your primary focus will be on implementation, system optimization, and creating a smooth customer onboarding experience.

What You'll Do:- 
  • Lead customer onboarding by understanding their existing accounting processes, systems, and needs; create tailored implementation plans.
  • Oversee accounting system implementations, including QuickBooks, bill pay platforms, expense tools, and other fintech integrations.
  • Establish and optimize scalable accounting workflows for new clients-chart of accounts, close processes, reporting templates, and internal controls.
  • Partner directly with CEOs and leadership teams to understand business models and design accounting structures to support growth.
  • Manage monthly financial close and general accounting activities as needed during early onboarding phases.
  • Provide training and guidance to customers on newly implemented systems and processes.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax partners, and third-party vendors to ensure accurate and timely deliverables.
  • Research technical accounting issues and provide clear guidance to clients and internal team members.
  • Collaborate with and oversee activities of Topo team members to support successful implementations.
What You'll Need: 
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A self-starter mindset-comfortable operating in ambiguity and building as you go.
  • Passion for working with customers, solving problems, and designing efficient processes.
  • Ability to move seamlessly between high-level advisory work and hands-on execution.
  • 4+ years of experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, finance, or similar roles.
  • Controller-level understanding of GAAP, monthly close, and financial reporting.
    Excellent quantitative skills; proficiency in spreadsheet tools and accounting software (QuickBooks required).
  • Experience implementing accounting systems or financial tools is a major plus.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
