ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are seeking a Senior Sales Engineer to serve as a key technical expert and product advocate for our technology solutions, explaining the features of the product in detail, understanding the customer's requirements, and providing tailored solutions to ensure client satisfaction and maximize sales opportunities. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between sales and engineering, serving as a technical leader who supports sales teams with deep expertise during complex client meetings, presentations, and implementations, while also mentoring junior team members.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Technical Sales Support: Effectively communicate the technical capabilities of our SaaS solutions to financial institutions and fintech companies during the sales process through presentations, demonstrations, and pilot implementations, particularly for strategic and enterprise-level accounts.
  • Solution Design: Lead collaboration with clients and internal teams to understand technical and business requirements, architecting tailored, often complex solutions that deliver measurable value.
  • Client Relationship Building: Develop strong, confidence-building relationships with senior stakeholders, enabling frictionless product adoption and reinforcing AFS's reputation as a trusted partner.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, R&D, and Marketing teams to provide client feedback, influence roadmap prioritization, and execute go-to-market strategies, serving as a key technical voice in strategic planning discussions.
  • Post-Sales Training & Support: Educate customers through training sessions, onboarding support, and ongoing technical coaching to drive successful product adoption.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Provide guidance and technical mentorship to junior Sales Engineers, helping to develop their skills and elevate team-wide technical sales capabilities.
  • Market Research and Analysis: Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape, using insights to inform strategy and improve customer engagement.

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) required
  • 6+ years of experience in sales engineering, technical consulting, or related roles within financial technology, SaaS, or custody/clearing services
  • Demonstrated track record of leading complex, high-value technical sales engagements
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to discuss detailed product specifications with both technical and non-technical audiences, including C-level stakeholders
  • Experience working in fast-paced, client-facing environments

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Clear Communication: Exceptional ability to convey complex technical concepts in ways that are accessible to a wide range of audiences, including senior executives.
  • Technical Competence: Deep understanding of technology-driven financial solutions with an aptitude for quickly mastering new products and tools.
  • Customer-Centric Mindset: A natural ability to engage with clients, anticipate their needs, and foster trust and satisfaction.

  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Comfortable navigating ever-changing priorities, embracing challenges, and thriving under pressure.
  • Team Collaboration & Leadership: A collaborative mindset with the ability to effectively engage with cross-functional and global teams, along with the ability to mentor and guide less experienced colleagues.

Work Environment
