Job description

Purpose:The Staff Accountant helps ensure accurate financial records across multiple accounting systems are maintained thereby providing for complete and accurate accounting for all transactions. The Staff Accountant’s responsibilities include developing and performing detailed reconciliations for new Banking as a Service (BaaS) programs, including BIN Sponsorship, Payment Processing, and Strategic Partner lending initiatives. The Staff Accountant will support the implementation of new BaaS programs, assist in equipment lease reconciliations, and work to improve reconciliations for strategic programs. The Staff Accountant will also identify and implement improvements to existing processes. Success in this position requires an understanding of basic accounting principles, the ability to collaborate effectively with various internal departments and external partners, fostering cross-functional teamwork and supporting the organization’s strategic objectives.Tasks:Journal creation for bank account transactions.Ensure activities posted to both cash and clearing GL accounts are reviewed and reconciled in a timely manner.Perform bank reconciliations - reconciliation of the bank statement against the GL and reconciliation of any assigned clearing accounts.Assist in monthly financials preparation.Reconciled balance sheet accounts.Perform Banking as a Service (BaaS) functions including participating in implementation calls and buildout.Respond to audit inquiries from examiners and auditors.Must Have Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of computers and familiarity with accounting software (Sage Intacct, FloQast).Advanced user in Excel (XLOOKUP, SUMIF(S), IF statements, PivotTables).Problem solving skills to investigate outages, identify causes, and outline solutions.Demonstrated ability to effectively manage several projects at once by setting clear priorities and organizing tasks to maximize efficiency.Ability to analyze figures.Solid understanding of accounting principles and standards.Strong verbal and written communication abilities.Proficient in applying mathematical concepts develop spreadsheets and identify and resolve accounting issues.Skilled at building and maintaining positive, collaborative working relationships with colleagues over time.Required Education / Experience / License:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.Three years or more of Accounting experience.Desired Education /Experience / License:Banking/FinTech accounting experience.BaaS (Banking as a Service) experience, particularly with BIN (Card) Sponsorship and Payment Processing reconciliations.Minimum Essential Requirements:Sit or stand at a computer for extended periods of time and look at a computer screen for several hours a day.Work in office at FinWise HQ location (Murray, UT).Communicate with others in person, on the phone, virtual meeting, and email.Maintain confidentiality.Lift 20 lbs.Maintain regular and punctual attendance.Work overtime as assigned.Travel overnight as required.Work cooperatively with others.Driving during workday.Comply with all company policies and procedures.Background checks are required on all bank employees due to the accessibility of Personally Identifiable Private Information.AAP/EEO StatementFinWise is an equal opportunity employer and dedicated to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
