Responsibilities

  • Explain wagering rules, including betting lines and odds, and procedures to guests.
  • Efficiently and accurately processes all pari-mutuel wages in the tote system.
  • Write, verify, and make payments on tickets for sports wagers in accordance with department policy and procedures and ensures compliance to applicable jurisdictional gaming statues and regulations.
  • Write Sports tickets in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Create and enter player tracking cards.
  • Make payments on winning tickets in an accurate and timely manner; verify tickets and payoffs.
  • Maintain a cash bank for his/her shift, responsible for accepting payment and making correct change when necessary.
  • Exchanges cash and coins in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain and reconcile bank for assigned shift, following established cash-handling policies and procedures.
  • Assists guests with credit applications.
  • Verifies credit approval for casino departments.
  • Performs credit card cash advances.
  • Issues and receives payments.
  • Cash personal, travelers, and payroll checks in compliance with approved procedures.
  • Counts down bank or window at end of each shift and reconciles to the draw amount.
  • Completes a blind drop on all revenues collected during the shift.
  • Operates assigned bank or window according to department and regulatory guidelines.
  • Completes all required shift paperwork according to internal control standards.
  • Records any applicable cash transactions that are required by Federal Law
  • Knowledge of and enforcement of all gaming laws and regulations which apply to the functions and duties.
  • Provides information and assistance to customers in a friendly, courteous manner to ensure the delivery of guest service. Offer information on activities, etc., and direct guests for further information as necessary.
  • Manages difficult guest situations; Responds promptly to guest needs; Seeks guest feedback to improve service; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments.
  • Stocks stations with adequate supplies; keeps all stations neat and clean.

RequirementsQualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • General cashiering background or prior money handling experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in race and sportsbook preferred.
  • Working knowledge of sports.
  • Knowledge of tote system to place customer bets.
  • Must have previous experience with jet sort, coin roller, check cashing and credit card cash advance systems.
  • Efficiency and accuracy when entering guests wagers and paying out winners.
  • Variances within standards according to department variance policy.
  • Ability to respond calmly and make rational decisions when required.
  • Ability to learn and comply with department, property and regulatory policy and procedure.
  • Other duties, as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of America money and weight measurement, volume and distance. Possess ability to operate an adding machine and have basic computer skills.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
Must possess a valid driver's license and have acceptable driving history as determined by Penn National Gaming's auto insurance carrier.
